À propos

Surrounded by record players at family parties filled with Black music, TOMBOY showed her musical interest early on, dedicating herself to violin, flute, and singing lessons, always interspersed with hours of listening to house, drum 'n' bass, samba, soul, jazz, and hip hop—genres reflected and reinterpreted today in her repertoire. In her early adulthood, she frequented the São Paulo rap scene, appearing at parties, shows, and rap battles. She also dedicated time to earning a degree in Art History from the Federal University of São Paulo, focusing her efforts on studying the impact of the Black American music and cultural scene in the 1960s and 1970s as a political tool, bringing visibility to the topic in academic studies, in a way that was unprecedented in Brazil. Her motivation is to explore the history and impact of Black culture on the construction of identity repertoires, drawing on the work of artists such as DJ Marky, KL Jay, Honey Dijon, Kaytranada, and others, with a focus on electronic music. She has performed at Sesc Verão, Nike Run São Paulo, Natura, Soho House São Paulo, and at the Met & Rala, Ralachão, Cabarett Duartt, Punga!, Perifa no Toque, and Cr1a Grime parties. She also performed at the Radio Gatilho FM project, at Casa Natura Musical, created by DJ Nyack, opening for Luedji Luna and Fat Family. Today, she is one of the founders of Vênus Baile, an all-female party, and the High N Be party, with a 100% Black music repertoire.
