A bridge between worlds, a dialogue with her ancestors, and a declaration of artistic independence. Born to Senegalese parents and raised between cultures, the Paris-based vocalist, producer, and DJ broke through with Your Voice, further elevated by Adam Port’s remix. Since then, she has become one of electronic music’s most compelling new voices, fusing ancestral energy with modern club rhythms. Her tour schedule features increasingly high-profile bookings, including major global festivals from Coachella to Tomorrowland, alongside a growing discography of acclaimed solo releases, collaborations, features, and remixes for artists such as WhoMadeWho and Jan Blomqvist. Comfortably exploring Afro House, Melodic, Indie Dance, and House, AWEN’s sound is broad yet unmistakably unique. With the launch of her new label Kanté, she continues to flourish — driven by positive intentions, powerful inner motivation, and the echoes of her ancestors. Before fully committing to music, AWEN worked as a lawyer in Hong Kong — a path that offered security but little meaning. The passing of her father became a turning point, awakening a deeper urgency to pursue music. She credits her legal career and PhD with sharpening discipline, focus, and emotional expression — tools she now channels through her art. Her sound reflects both her Senegalese heritage and global outlook, drawing inspiration from the griot tradition, where music serves as a vessel for wisdom, history, and communal identity. Her voice gained early recognition through tracks like Your Voice (with Caiiro) and Home (with Djeff). Adam Port’s remix of Your Voice has since reached nearly 50 million Spotify streams. Other standout releases include her remix of Sia & Labrinth’s Incredible and The Answer with Kitty Amor — the debut release on Kitty’s Mahaba Music label. She has also remixed WhoMadeWho (Bedside) and collaborated with Jan Blomqvist and Rodriguez Jr. on Destination Lost (Would You Miss Me Around). After years of releasing on respected international labels, AWEN chose to take full creative control by launching her own imprint, Kanté, named after her surname. “I got tired of being told my music should sound more like this or that,” she explains. “I reached a point where I trust my own vision.” The label’s debut release, Hustler with Daniel Rateuke, captures her evolving sound — blending Afro House with classic house elements, complemented by a disco-tinged remix from Atjazz. If you’d like, I can also make a short bio, one-paragraph version, or DJ press blurb for flyers and announcements — just tell me.
