Description
The Black Industrial Research Group and purge.xxx presents DUBMORPHOLOGY + NKISI Dubmorphology (Trevor Mathison and Gary Stewart) returns to Ormside Projects following their epic four-hour installation/performance at South Bermondsey Festival, in a double-header with Nkisi. This is the first in a series of performances under the banner of the Black Industrial Research Group, marking the launch of the collective’s first recorded output: a 12” white label limited to 100 copies on purge.xxx, composed by Trevor Mathison and Gary Stewart, featuring the words of John Akomfrah. This release will be available first at Ormside Projects, and followed by an extensive vinyl boxset featuring all new work by Dubmorphology, Nkisi, Klein, and Kodwo Eshun. Performances in November 2025 are also taking place in Bristol (Arnolfini) on 21/11 and Chapter (Cardiff) on 29/11 * Black Industrial/Noise is a project by the Black Industrial Research Group. Trevor Mathison and Gary Stewart have been in search of a black avantgarde since the 1980s. As the duo Dubmorphology they make experimental audio-visual installations and performances that examine the relationship between culture, history and creativity, reworking historical, political and scientific archives. purge.xxx is a record label that has been hailed by The Wire magazine for its 'disregard for the music industry, self-promotion and prevailing cultural norms.' In late 2025, it will publish a twelve-inch white label by the Black Industrial Research Group, and a seven-inch single by Jean Pierre-Bedoyan (for William E. Jones' The Fall of Communism as Seen in Gay Pornography).
