As Claude VonStroke brings his back-to-basics, Your Dad Plays Great Music concept to the Big Apple, now is the perfect time to reminisce on his integral role in electronic music, both in the USA and internationally. Since 2005, the enigmatic house, funk and dirty bass of Dirtybird have been a seminal imprint, ultimately evolving into a full-on brand through its record label, fashion line, annual BBQ and Campout events, and more. Behind it all has been the Detroit-born, San Francisco-bred VonStroke, who has also managed a prolific release schedule of iconic tracks, like Who's Afraid of Detroit, in the process.
One of the country's prolific party starters, Claude VonStroke, knows the importance of fun in the underground. The ever-smiling DJ, who has toured the world at clubs and festival stages big and small, is a bonafide booty-shaker, as is his entire Dirtybird consort. But, Dirtybird isn't the only side of VonStroke. He is also one half of GET REAL (with Green Velvet, has released 4 artist albums, and has collaborated on top hits with the likes of Bootsy Collins, Rihanna, Disclosure, and Kevin Sanderson.
