Cubic Zirconia Cubic Zirconia is from the San Francsico Bay Area and has lived in NYC for 8 years. He has loved dance music since he was little. His first exposure to club music was in the early 90s, when he was in second grade. His two older cousins, dawning Jnco jeans, steel toe boots, and gabber style pony tales would invite him to hang out in their bedrooms plastered with party flyers from the many nights they spent out dancing. They would play mixtapes for him, of all the latest music from Djs that they had heard out on their late-night escapades. This was his first exposure to genres, like techno, house, trance, hard house, and gabber. Though he didn't know the names of the genres at the time this music would sink deep roots into his brain. His first rave experiences were in San Francisco and Oakland in the early 2000’s. Driving to underground abandoned warehouse parties with friends, then driving back to the suburbs as the sun was rising. As a music lover of all kinds, he has spent time at goth clubs, indie sleaze nights, 80s new wave bars, and the 6am New York Underground scene. Cubic Zirconia's uses the dance floor as a conduit, to channel memories, and musical influences, while also referencing future sounds, creating a love letter of sound from his pulsing heart to your waxy ears. Expect to hear sounds ranging across EBM, Trance, Techno, New Wave, 80’s Goth, Industrial, Disco, Latin Freestyle and whatever else gets the body moving. -- Stunt stunt is a multidisciplinary artist and historian living in NYC. As a resident DJ at Happyfun Hideaway, they have spent the last few years honing what was a decades-long hobby of publishing mixes on tumblr into sets that respond to the mercurial whims of the dance floor. Their narrative driven mixes often center around a singular word or idea and expand from this center to include field recordings, poetry, and quotes clipped from films. Equally fascinated and informed by nightlife spaces, stunt considers the overlapping histories of particular sounds and the residues and traces they leave behind. In their hands, a once familiar track can become warped out of joint and bent into strange shapes. Refusing to be pigeonholed into any one genre, it’s not uncommon for stunt to move from dub to dembow, to collage ambient with acid, or to build up a hissing and steaming techno polyrhythm only to turn the whole thing on its head shake out some new wave rarity. While their sound can tend towards the dark and industrial, there’s a sensuality and twisted sense of humor at the core of everything they do.
