Description
// DIONYSIAN MYSTERIES XIV // Our Dionysian Mysteries are monthly, summer gatherings uniting musical, artistic and performative talents in a transcendental, communal dance—a celebration of musical and artistic exploration, creative expression and connection. On Saturday, August 17th, we welcome the talented Mike Stellar, Andi Otto & MD Pallavi (live set), Rampue (live set), Goldcap and Mâhfoud to our stage, as we explore the theme of Madness through music, theatre and art. Through various performances, experiences and other surprises, we’ll explore the boundaries of insanity. As always, you’ll find pockets and doorways into other realms across the beach… an invitation into exploration, discovery and surrender. *evenings on the coast can get a little chilly, don’t forget to bring some layers* // About Dionysus and his Mysteries: Dionysus, as he is known in Greek mythology, or Bacchus in Roman mythology, is known for being a rowdy and festive god. Because of his relationship with sacred wine, Dionysus started to organise parties on Olympus which opened space for various artistic manifestations, especially theatre. These transcendental rituals symbolised the cycles of death and rebirth, the very cyclicality of agriculture and the invocation of the spirit. Each ritual symbolised a new beginning, for dance and music allows sensory exploration and thus the search for a more natural state of self, far from social impositions and inhibitions. In the "invocation of the spirit" the rhythm of the drums promoted catharsis and transformation. "Dionysian Mysteries" is a space for diversity, festivity and the transcendental cult of the freedom of being.
