For historians, there are few better biographies than that of Dorian Paic to illustrate the techno and house history of Frankfurt. Whether it was the jet-set disco Dorian Gray, a place called Music Hall, Sven Väth's legendary Omen, the cult club XS, or the younger high altars like the Monza and the Robert Johnson in Offenbach, Paic has been involved one way or another.
His passion was ignited years ago by the intensity and ecstasy found in the clubs during their early days, the strange mixture of people from all social levels, the distinct taste of smoke from fog machines, and, of course, the music itself.
The nineties passed in a blur. Not only did Paic become an authority at the downtown hotspot Monza, but he also influenced the sound of his city both in front of and behind the counter at the record shop institution Freebase. Ricardo Villalobos had Dorian’s support on his highly acclaimed "Fabric Mix," and Sven Väth chose him as his preferred opening DJ at the Love Family Park and in Ibiza, where he remains a welcome guest at the Cocoon parties. Laurels all around—but this is no coincidence. Experts don't appear out of the blue.
This expertise is also evident in Dorian's work at his label "raum...musik." Serving as both the A&R and one of the releasing artists, he proves that you can form a great artist roster with convincing releases beyond the major/indie mindsets.
