Freshly Pressed Vol 002 - A Benefit for WMRC & Nova Ukraine The second volume of Freshly Pressed has arrived – we’re back with all all-star lineup who will be spinning vinyl all night, benefitting Nova Ukraine (humanitarian relieft) and Willie Mae Rock Camp at Club Nublu (downstairs from 151 Avenue C). Read on: Willie Mae Rock Camp (WMRC) is a nonprofit music and mentoring organization dedicated to empowering girls and gender-expansive youth. Their programs explore the intersection of music, technology, and experimentation to spark curiosity and creative exploration through a social justice lens. WMRC seeks to lift the voices of those who have historically been silenced, and their programs directly address opportunity gaps in electro-acoustic music education and technology. Founder, LaFrae Sci a.k.a Frae-Frae: daughter of Drexciya, is an award-winning and internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, educator, composer and electro acoustic adventurer. Selectors for the Night: Ostara (Blkmarket Music) We are privileged to have Ostara joining us for her NYC debut – her knowledge in electronic dance music is profound; her ears trained from religious visits to legendary clubs such as AAHZ & The Edge, from performances by artists like DJ Three, Sasha & Digweed, and Rabbit in the Moon. From dancer to now gracing the turntables and production, her passion in music continues through collecting records, and playing with a pleasurable attitude. Ostara is co-founder of record label and event series Blkmarket Music, co owner of record shop T Bag Records, 1/3 of the sold out vinyl releases of production trio T.A.O (Taimur.Amo.Ostara), curates the T Bag Records Instore Sessions, and has been integral and prolific in embodying all that Blkmarket does in connecting like minded beings and the embodiment and fabrication of our music community. Vivian Wang (Brooklyn Sway) Beijing born Vivian Wang, now based out of NYC, developed a passion for music at an early age through classical piano and violin training and discovered her love to electronic music at an early age through her father & on the dancefloors. Vivian spends most her time digging for vinyl and experimenting and creating music with analogue sounds in the studio. While still relatively new to the NYC music community, she has already had the chance to share the stage with artists such as Juan Atkins, Andrey Pushkarev, Lauren Flax, and is going to be joining Cassy at the Good Room & Flash DC on her upcoming all-vinyl tour. She’ll also be doing her first live performance at the upcoming Cityfox Live event in NYC. Corrina California native Corrina Schlaile, a multi-dimensional artist and new to playing in the NYC underground community, started collecting records three years ago, the same time she moved to NYC, got her hands on turntables, and has been hooked on playing vinyl ever since. Her selections reflect her exploration of minimal, tech house, techno, and the beloved electro. Asha Asha is Polish native and Brooklyn resident, Asha Jaasz. She is a music enthusiast and record collector focused on underground house and deep techno. Her musical taste took shape throughout her teenage years while growing up in Europe, and later in life while living in the US and traveling to various music festivals throughout the World. She is passionate about cultivating music and arts in today’s world, due to their strong role in human existence. We couldn't be more excited to gather again on March 4th at Club Nublu, a NYC institution that supports artists and musicians from all walks of life, spanning all genres.
