With the mindset of “less is more”, Hoppa strives to captivate the dance floor with his innovative blend of groovy and hypnotic track selections. Hoppa draws inspiration from international legendary techno scenes of Berlin and Amsterdam as well as NYC, LA, and DC, where he immersed himself in the culture and sound. By being able to attend techno shows all over the world, lifelong influences are channeled into his musical vision - creating an atmosphere on the dance floor where people can close their eyes and get lost in the music. His biggest influences include renowned selectors like DVS1, Oscar Mulero, MARRØN, Rene Wise, Jeff Mills, and Altinbas. These artists have shaped his approach to mixing, guiding him in creating sets that resonate with both seasoned fans and newcomers alike. MARTEKA FAIR MARTEKA FAIR is an experienced and sensate selector from North Carolina. Through a dense resume of live and recorded performances, including an invitation to perform at Dustin Zahn’s Great Beyond festival in Franklin, MN, an experimental techno exhibition with the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, a heavyweight support set for Perc and a recording for Berlin’s HÖR and Backhaus she has developed a highly expressive approach to club music, drawing from a background in concert percussion and a deep understanding of polymorphous dance rhythms. The eclectic nature of her DJ sets points to exceptional taste and an encyclopedic awareness and love of dance music. Most recently, Marteka is developing and performing a mixed-media concert series called “Liminal Space,” crossing techno with the visual realm alongside North Carolina-based video artist Fluxxss. MATTHEW CHA MATTHEW CHA is an electroacoustic multi-instrumentalist and composer from Seoul, Korea, presently based in Washington DC. Cha’s performances focus on the Buchla modular synthesizer, fusing a background in improvised jazz with an unrestrained pursuit of new electronic timbres. He calls his music “technojazz.” Cha is a sophisticated live musician, devising “avant-hard” performances that celebrate the nuance of the Buchla’s unique input structures. These semi-improvised and expressively daring sets typically feature his saxophone and Buchla Music Easel. As a DJ he presents a deep experimental concept of techno, folding esoteric corners of sound design, often prepared ahead of time on his Buchla, into agile kicks and percussion. STUKES Washington, DC based artist and rising star STUKE’s core identity has been closely tied to the exposure and exploration of music. His lifelong, multi-genre musical journey began as a child with his parents exposing him to rap and hip-hop, R&B, and jazz; while self-exploration as a teenager led to his love for rock and metal. Now his excursion has landed him in the world of techno and electronic music. Although he has loved music his whole life, STUKES started dabbling in music production after his best friend showed him FL Studio, a day which he admits changed his life. After creating for over a decade, STUKES finally found his calling in producing techno, and has expanded his career as a resident DJ for two of DC’s prime techno all-nighters BLACK TECHNO MATTERS and Undertone. Whether it’s hard hitting 155 bpm, or chill 130 bpm. STUKES plays music that is true to who he is, past and present. TONALTHEORY With their ability to deliver unforgettable experiences through their unique sound and unwavering passion, Tonal Theory continues to push the boundaries of techno, while actively nurturing the local DC music scene by hosting their signature high-energy techno, mind blowing production label nights and collaborating with industry-leading promoters and clubs.
