Description
We’re keeping things warm this holiday week with a super hot lineup of soulful house, deep grooves, and feel-good energy all night long. In CARGO we welcome Kenny Summit. His career, now drifting confidently into its fourth decade, began with a surreal kind of start: DJing Ralph Lauren’s birthday party at the Limelight at just 16 years old, a night that opened the door to a ten-year mentorship under Peter Gatien, the undisputed architect of New York nightlife’s golden age. Ian Schrager later continued that trajectory, bringing Kenny into a world of sophistication and high-fashion production where he crafted runway experiences for Kenzo, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and Versace moments still referenced today. His resume reads like a dream lineup: Jeff Mills to Fatboy Slim, James Brown to Bon Jovi, underground raves to red-carpet premieres, and stages shared with Brand Nubian, Mariah Carey, and LL Cool J. He’s also the only producer to have worked with the “holy trinity”: Frankie Knuckles, DJ Kool Herc, and Giorgio Moroder. With more than fifty #1 records to his name, he helped reignite global love for disco and nu-disco through his now-classic collaboration with Knuckles on Lou Rawls’ “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine.” He’ll be taking over Cargo from 12AM–3AM, bringing all of that history, precision, and soul straight to the main room. Opening in CARGO is Smurfoudirty born into a dynasty of groove as the son of funk powerhouse Dennis “Menace” Weeden (Bootsy Collins, Parliament, France Joli, Taana Gardner, Secret Weapon, Gwen McCrae) and the grandson of jazz legend Terry Pollard, a Detroit Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and American jazz icon. With lineage like that, it’s no surprise his sets overflow with soulful house, pulsating rhythms, and classic joints. He's been a force in the NYC scene for over a decade bringing a rare blend of heritage, intuition, and pure dance-floor magnetism. Holding down the Foyer from 9PM–2AM is Miss Gypsy, a rising force in NYC’s soulful underground. After moving to New York, she discovered the world of dance music and quickly carved out a distinct voice behind the decks one defined by deep, soulful, vocal-rich selections that are groovy, funky, sexy, and always guided by emotion. Her sets move the body and stir the spirit, often with an unexpected twist that keeps the room leaning in. As part of the team at Razor-N-Tape, she’s brought her warm, intuitive sound to standout spaces across the city, including The Lot Radio, Jupiter Disco, Golden Record NYC, Signal, Xanadu, and Refuge. Free before 10PM w/ RSVP | 21+ Venue opens at 5PM | Happy Hour 5–8PM | Music at 9PM
