Psicotrópicos Festival returns in July for its fifth edition in Berlin with a carefully curated selection of Brazilian artists who are shaping the sound of today at a very special new location, the Neue Nationalgalerie. Line Up Hermeto Pascoal Jota.pê Tuyo Jéssica Gaspar Yoùn Patricktor4 HERMETO PASCOAL, the 90-year-old iconic Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist, began his career in the 1950s and is globally renowned for his groundbreaking work with groups like Quarteto Novo and his own ensemble, Grupo. Known as the "Sorcerer of Sounds" for his inventive use of unconventional instruments and experimental techniques, he has composed over 10,000 pieces and earned multiple accolades, including two Latin Grammys. JOTA.PÊ is a rising star in Brazilian music, blending MPB, manguebeat, and influences like Jorge Ben and Caetano Veloso. His second album Se Meu Peito Fosse o Mundo (2024), featuring Xênia França and Gilsons, surpassed 2.5 million streams and earned multiple Latin Grammy and Multishow Award nominations. A standout on The Voice Brasil, he has toured Europe three times and also performs in the Grammy-nominated duo ÀVUÀ with Bruna Black. JÉSSICA GASPAR is a multi-artist who blends poetry, music, and dance to celebrate Afro-Brazilian ancestry, love, and resistance. With a powerful and velvety voice, she moves fluidly between MPB and afrohouse, as heard in her breakout 2024 single Brisa—a global hit with over 2 million Spotify plays. Her music and presence have led to collaborations with electronic music DJs worldwide and performances at major stages in Brazil. TUYO is a Brazilian trio known for their unique blend of folk, R&B, and electronic music, marked by emotional lyrics and innovative production. Their latest album Paisagem explores themes of connection and memory, and their powerful live performances have featured at major festivals like Primavera Sound, SXSW, and Lollapalooza Brasil. YOÙN was born in the Baixada Fluminense region as an innovative project that blends R&B, rap, jazz, soul, trap, and Brazilian urban rhythms, creating a unique bridge between diverse musical styles. Formed by the talented duo Shuna and GP, the group stands out for its bold approach—merging classic influences like Djavan, Stevie Wonder, and Luiz Melodia with contemporary sounds from the 2000s and today’s R&B and hip-hop scene, including artists like Usher, Giveon, and Daniel Caesar. Patricktor4 is a DJ and radio host from Bahia, based in Sergipe. With a focus on the diversity of Brazilian tropical pop, he has taken his remixes and original tracks to festivals, clubs, the Olympics, and World Cups across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
