Raised with motor city roots in the burgeoning techno capital of Detroit, Elliott took his sound to Berlin, where he joined Ostgut Ton’s agency and began releasing his productions through their label. Given Ostgut Ton’s connection to both Panorama Bar and Berghain, this gave Ryan the comfort to experiment and blur the lines between house and techno. Ryan Elliott embodies a dichotomy of both worlds, not only in house and techno, but also in culture. His ethos is borne of an all encompassing love for the two genres, and desire to give back to the musical community. Founder of Absurd Recordings and Global A, Vienna-based electronic artist Tin Man has developed a technical mastery of synths and drum machines over his 15+ years producing music, resulting in performances that span across a number of genres. The California native is no stranger to House and Techno, with his innovative approach using the 303, 606 and 707 Roland machines. Having performed on the most prominent dance floors including Berghain (Berlin) and Movement (Detroit), Tin Man arrives in the District for what is sure to be an otherworldly set. About Movement: Each year on Memorial Day weekend, thousands of people from across the globe gather in the birthplace of Techno to celebrate the heritage of Detroit and its musical influence over countless generations, new and old. Movement Music Festival is one of the longest-running dance music events in the world, committed to showcasing authentic music and providing an experience unlike any other. The festival takes place in Hart Plaza – Detroit’s legendary riverfront destination. Movement 2022 dates: Saturday, May 28 - Monday, May 30. Growing up as a DJ in Detroit, but coming into his own in Berlin, his sets expand on each city’s styles. A resident at Berghain and Panorama Bar, he refuses to be aligned with just techno or house, instead highlighting their optimal overlaps. And as a producer, remixer, and founder of his own label, Faith Beat, Elliott releases music that is playable but unpredictable, perfectly calibrated for dancefloor impact and enduring enjoyment. No matter what form his musical expression takes, with Elliott listeners always seem to get the best of both worlds. As a DJ, Elliott delivers sets that slice energetically across the house and techno divide, a revelatory approach that's infused with a deep respect for his selections. This ethos also manifests in the monthly charts Elliott has published since 2003, insisting on giving a proper platform to whatever he plays. As with all of his efforts, Elliott doesn’t pit one place or style against each other, continuing to pursue a sleek and transportive fusion. Tin Man: Tin Man is an artist in the truest sense of the word. Over the last decade now the man born Johannes Auvinen has explored an ever evolving sound palette that touches on house, techno and ambient. Much like his namesake’s character in the Wizard of Oz, he has been on a mission to find his true self, except this Tin Man’s medium has been music. Most recently the California born producer and live act has been responsible for reinvigorating the acid scene with his unique and cerebral manipulations of real Roland 303s. His tracks have been laced with slow and subtly shifting patterns that are infused with a very real machine soul and exude captivating warmth. Taking influences from “Chicago and radio pop rock as well as melancholic UK electronics and Sahkö” Tin Man’s extensive discography also explores less sublime and seductive sounds on labels like Keys of Life and Acid Acid, and plenty of raw sonics on albums like Scared. He is also part of The Acid Symphony Orchestra (a live super group that features artists playing on ten 303, 707 and 808) and has turned out a standalone neo-classical and ambient work, Vienna Blue, which proves he does so much more than pure dancing music.
