Ploume is excited to present the inaugural edition of Too Haute to Handle! On Saturday March 18, we feature the sizzling sounds of chef and DJ Matt FX, supported by local mainstays Iman Rizky and J Richards. DJ, producer, chef, and TV host – Matt FX is the definitive multihyphenate. Referred to as a “musical polymath” by Forbes and a “NYC nightlife institution” by VICE, he first shot to fame as the mind behind the soundtrack of the hit Comedy Central TV show BROAD CITY, as well as for his appearances on VICE News Tonight and the Food Network. No lightweight in the kitchen either, Matt co-founded "underground fried chicken sandwich racket" DUBPLATE NYC, dubbed the 'best fried chicken sandwich of all time' by Busboy.co. As a DJ, Matt approaches each and every set with an irreverence that the New York Times calls “interesting social commentary on multiple levels” and has shared the stage with artists from Boys Noize and Disclosure to Charli XCX and Azealia Banks. He is currently finishing his debut full length album, slated for release later this year with Soul Clap Records, and has previously worked with labels such as Kitsune Musique and Wolf + Lamb. IMAN RIZKY was bred on house beats from the early '80s and '90s. His relationship with dance music back then was a transcendental experience every weekend at places like New York City's Red Zone, the Tunnel, Limelight’s Disco 2000, the Sound Factory, and the legendary Twilo. Iman became a promoter for the Tunnel, Limelight, and the Palladium during the club scene era of the late '80s. His immersion in the heyday of club culture in NYC prompted the pursuit of his true life-long passion of DJing. With his extensive knowledge of dance music from both participation and promotion, he was able to cultivate a unique DJ sound to call his own. He founded ebb + flow with Gavin Stephenson in 2013. The underground parties of ebb + flow music have brought consistent high quality music and an undeniably contagious vibe to the dance music scene. As an ebb + flow resident, Iman's DJ sets are laden with minimal groovy beats layered with melodic sounds that build in a cycle of high peaks and low valleys. He takes the crowd on a thrilling roller coaster ride of music that elevates the mind, moves the body, and satisfies the soul. He has shared spots alongside world class artists including Akiko Kiyama, Alexi Delano, Atish, Audiofly, Behrouz, Bill Patrick, Butane, Camea, Charles FeelGood, Corey Baker, Clarian, Clint Stewart, Dave DK, Dance Spirit, DAVI, Deep Jesus, Derek Plaslaiko, DJ Three, Einmusik, Elias Dore, Dimitri Nakov, Jon Charnis, Gab Rhome, Hoj, Italoboyz, Jamie Jones, Jay Tripwire, Jozif, Justin Marchacos, Kate Simko, Lemurian, Luca Bachetti, Luis Diaz, Matt Tolfrey, Mark Ashken, Mark Slee, Mightykat, Mike Khoury, Mikey Lion, Maxi Storrs, MyMy, Nico Stojan, Nikita, Oona Dahl, Par Grandivik, Patrick Batemen, Pete Bones, Pier Bucci, Pig & Dan, Randall Jones, Robbie Akbal, Ryan Crosson, Sascha Dive, Shaun Reeves, Stacy Pullen, Steve Porter, Tara Brooks, Terry Francis, Tim Green, Tim Xavier, Tim Engelhardt, Vincent Casanova, Yokoo, Wof+Lamb and many more. Toronto native J Richards has been lighting up dance floors around New York City and abroad of late with his own special brand of always-danceable deep house. A versatile multi-instrumentalist (who plays piano, guitar, bass, violin, accordion, organ -- and yes, even the musical saw), he brings a musician's ear and a dancer's feet to the crafting of each set he plays. He has shared the decks with Steve Bug, Deetron, Cassy, Lauren Lane, Art Department, M.A.N.D.Y., Patrice Baumel, Denney, Tibi Dabo, Soul Clap, Audiofly, and many others. You may have found him in the booth at Gospel, the Public Hotel, Amaya, Up&Down, TBA Brooklyn, the Soho Grand, and the Water Tower in New York, Do Not Sit on the Furniture, the Electric Pickle or ATV in Miami, and Boxpark in London. He is a resident at Import/Export, ebb + flow, and Brooklyn Hustle, and has been invited to play for Elements, Rapture, Hot Situations, PewPew, Greymattrs, Caché, Members, I FEEL, and Miki Beach.
