Oliver Tree Nickell (born June 29, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, producer, and filmmaker known for his eccentric persona, viral music videos, and unique blend of alternative rock, electronic, and hip-hop influences. Raised in Santa Cruz, California, Tree began his music career at a young age, studying piano and later diving into production and songwriting. He gained initial attention with his surreal, meme-driven aesthetic and comedic approach to music, which took off after the release of his 2017 single "When I'm Down." His debut album, Ugly Is Beautiful (2020), further cemented his status with hits like "Hurt" and "Alien Boy." His sound blends elements of pop-punk, electro-pop, and indie rock, often accompanied by outlandish music videos that showcase his love for absurdist humor and extreme stunts. Beyond music, Oliver Tree is also known for his work in filmmaking, directing his own videos, and embracing over-the-top, satirical characters.
