Breaking Capacity celebrates the disruptive power of breaks and bass. For our Earthly Delights debut, we’ll begin the night with a live hardware DnB set from PlayPlay, and then move into DJ sets by NYC bass aficionado Kellen303 as well as SLICK DOWN cofounder wahala.wav for a wild night. PlayPlay combines their penchant for percussion and bass with nostalgic samples & dreamy synths in both their DJ sets & music production. Their sound is inspired by over two decades of raving, crate digging and the sounds they grew up dancing to - 90s club anthems, jungle, DnB, industrial, classic house, techno and old school hip-hop. With releases out on labels such as Clasico Records, Sorry Records, Worst Behavior and Delusional Records, as well as a slew of self-releases and collaborations, PlayPlay has been slowly and steadily amassing a thumping discography over the years. Their music has been featured on radio programs such as BBC Radio 1, NTS Radio, Rinse FM and the Lot Radio and can be heard in underground clubs around the world (some of which they're probably dancing in). PlayPlay also loves to collaborate, remixing music from artists such as Bored Lord and Big Dipper and having their music remixed by Suzi Analogue, Jasmine Infiniti, Bored Lord, James Bangura, Scottie B, Escaflowne and more. PlayPlay and fellow queer and trans southern producer C Powers released their collaborative, slow cooked breakbeat EP Breaking Capacity under the moniker PowerPlay on Sorry Records (which is the original source for this party name). -- Kellen303 New York City’s bass music pioneer Kellen303 is a producer who’s cinematic and percussive rhythms explore the darker side of electronic club music. He draws inspiration from films, dreams and blends influences of dubstep, techno, and other club genres together to create his bass focused sound. Operating at the sonic crossroads of his musical and cultural roots, wa marries a euphoric intensity with the intimacy of the dance floor. He shares a focused intention on crafting a genre agnostic sonic signature that is distinctly his own, while paying homage to the vast historical landscape of black music . He is a co-founder of the NYC based collective SLICK DOWN and a resident on 8 Ball Radio.
