The sound of Detroit has been an inspiration from the innovation of Jeff Mills or that classic blend of vocals and techno in Inner City. And his life in Europe has only deepened his love of that continent’s contributions to electronic and experimental music. From Kraftwerk to Yello, England’s LFO and Summer of Love to Belgian New Beat, Butler’s blood runs thick with a passion for electronic music that puts people together and expands minds and connects hearts. This rich lineage informs his latest work, marking a return to the raw, emotive energy that made Hercules & Love Affair a defining force in contemporary dance music.
