KRATER is a vessel where imagination transcends itself. Fearlessly challenging the conventional fashion landscape, KRATER embraces the harmonious intersection of sustainable fashion design, performance art, and electronic music. The incubator’s fourth event brings New York Fashion Week to Bushwick’s House of Yes, featuring an array of emerging talents.

Debuting new collections through a series of disruptive fashion performances are the New York based and international talents: Kurriizmatic (NYC), an innovative brand transforming discarded textiles into wearable art; HAUEISEN (NYC), known for deconstructing and distorting the human form while challenging perceptions of gender through fashion; Sarah Wondrack (NYC), a fiber artist whose work redefines the human silhouette and transcends the traditional meaning of garments, Papel de Punto (COLOMBIA), a leading brand in Latin America reinventing and elevating knitwear with a neat but fun approach on sustainability; and La Bloom (COLOMBIA), a slow fashion brand celebrating the diversity and strength of women through alternative styles.

KRATER will be hosted by founder Giselle Manzano and multidisciplinary artist and fashion personality Marz Jackson. Along with the performances, there will be an exclusive pop-up market from the designers, offering attendees the opportunity to directly purchase their unique pieces at the event.

Join us on Friday, September 6, from 7 pm to 10 pm at House of Yes. Don't miss this unique fusion of fashion, art, and music that pushes the boundaries of creative expression.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Welcome to KRATER, pronounced "KRAH-TER" – a vessel where imagination transcends itself. As an artistic incubator, we challenge the conventional fashion landscape by merging sustainable fashion design, performance art, and electronic music. We champion artists and designers who blur the lines between fashion and art, making creativity a dynamic and transformative force.

The artists explore the interconnected nature of social identities, seamlessly integrating sustainable fashion and performance art. Their work reflects the diversity of the human experience, amplifying voices often muted in mainstream narratives and fostering empathy and societal transformation through resonant social commentary.

Our event, held during New York Fashion Week, is an inclusive, cost-free platform for designers. This initiative breaks financial barriers, ensuring equal opportunities for diverse, emerging talent. As a self-produced event, we rely on community support, with ticket sales directly funding our vision and helping designers turn their creative dreams into reality.

KRATER is not just an event; it is a testament to the transformative power of unity and creative expression. Join us and witness the future of fashion and art.

HAUEISEN

Kaylie Haueisen is a visionary designer captivated by bold and unconventional themes. Her work deconstructs traditional patterns and garments, creating striking distortions that celebrate the human form. Specializing in reworking and upcycling, Kaylie transforms clothing and accessories into innovative shapes that enhance the body's natural beauty. Her designs challenge toxic perceptions of femininity and masculinity in society. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Kaylie's MFA Spring/Summer 2024 collection was showcased at New York Fashion Week and featured on Vogue Runway.

KURRIIZMATIC

Founded by Brooklyn-born designer Hector Diaz, Kurriizmatic is an innovative, gender-neutral brand with sustainability at its core. Utilizing a method called "Negative Waste," Hector transforms second-hand clothing, fabrics, and scraps into new garments through traditional "kilim" weaving and the slitweave technique, resulting in unique, eco-friendly pieces. Kurriizmatic addresses fast fashion and overconsumption by crafting bespoke garments from discarded textiles, merging craftsmanship with sustainability to produce handmade clothing that embodies both style and environmental consciousness. As a pioneer in sustainable fashion, the brand is dedicated to creating stylish pieces while promoting a greener future. The brand has been showcased at Vancouver Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2023 and 2024, and featured in prominent publications such as VOGUE Mexico, VOGUE Italia, Paper Magazine, Glitch Magazine, FORBES Magazine, and ELLE Magazine.

LA BLOOM

Founded by designer Sara Pelaez, La Bloom is a slow fashion brand from Medellín, Colombia, dedicated to empowering women through unique and alternative styles. Their collections feature statement pieces, bold prints, and distinctive silhouettes, celebrating the diversity and strength of women. The La Bloom woman is experimental and eclectic, using her wardrobe to express and transform herself. Sara’s work has been showcased at prestigious events such as Colombiamoda, leading to collaborations with brands like Falabella and expanding La Bloom's reach. Her love affair with New York City has inspired multiple pop-up events and styling collaborations with Latin American designers at New York Fashion Week.

PAPEL DE PUNTO

PAPEL DE PUNTO is a Colombian knitwear concept brand founded by Laura Acevedo that seamlessly blends fashion with her unique artistic vision. Embracing the "neat but fun" concept, PAPEL offers distinctive garments for everyday wear. Each piece is crafted with industrial-grade, high-quality knits, finished with handmade touches, making every garment a limited edition suitable for both men and women. Committed to social and environmental responsibility, the brand uses partially recycled cotton and various fiber blends. Entirely made in Colombia, each piece reflects their dedication to sustainability and quality.

In 2015, Laura won the "Se Busca Diseñador Fucsia" competition, leading to her first runway show at Colombiamoda. Her work has been showcased at prestigious events such as the Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño in Madrid, Bogotá Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and Salone del Mobile in Milan. She has also featured in pop-up stores in CDMX, Rome, and Savannah, Georgia, and collaborated with brands like Falabella and Crepes & Waffles. Laura now has a flagship store in the heart of Quinta Camacho in Bogotá, where she continually pushes the boundaries of knitwear design.

SARAH WONDRACK

Sarah Wondrack is a fiber artist based in Brooklyn, NY. A former fashion design educator in Detroit, MI, she obtained her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2019. Focusing on sustainability and using existing materials, Sarah views fashion as a medium for transformation and metamorphosis. Her current work explores how fashion transcends the representational meaning of garments, the familiar contours of the human body, and fixed forms of identity. By using the body as a means of communication and juxtaposing the grotesque with the beautiful, she pushes its boundaries, redefining the human silhouette and opening the door to new possibilities.

HOSTED BY

GISELLE MANZANO

Giselle Manzano Ramírez is a Colombian multidisciplinary designer and artist based in New York. Her work explores the intersection of art, fashion, and healing, drawing on her experience in graphic design, printmaking, and fashion to create one-of-a-kind textile art. She aims to elevate everyday objects by infusing them with symbolic meaning, translating these concepts into textiles and printmaking to connect the existential with the spiritual. Giselle's expertise has been recognized as she recently joined the esteemed roster of Domestika, a rapidly growing creative community. This platform allows experts to share their knowledge through meticulously crafted online courses. She is also the founder of KRATER, where she continues to push the boundaries of creative expression.
