From songwriting and playing guitar at the age of 17, to touring the world in her mid-20s with electro pop band Black Cherry, to becoming an integral organizer and activist within the male-dominated alternative club scene in the Middle East. Her DJ sets pull from her lived experiences across the world as she balances colorful global sounds within various electronic, Latin, African and Arabic rhythmic traditions. She runs radio show (Worldwide FM), club night and label Global Music Movement and has released music on a number of labels, such as Razor N Tape, Feedasoul Records and Feel Up Records. SAMALANDRA: SAMALANDRA are Débora King (keys/voice), Tiago Martins (bass/samples) and João Neves (drums). Formed in 2022, they released their first EP ‘ARTIFICIÊNCIA INTELIGENCIAL’ earlier this month. Lunar waveforms, pixelated bass lines and isometric beats give rise to an enigmatic, imaginative sound dimension, between the danceable and the abstract, which recreates endlessly. CVLT: Born in England but living in Portugal from a young age in a family of jazz musicians, his adolescence was marked by the exploration of various genres of music and their more marginal manifestations. One of the members of Discos Capablanca label and a regular in DJ booths from Lisbon to Berlin, he has accustomed us to nights of sets driven by highly rhythmic sounds and the skilful combination of various genres in their most deviant aspects, in an absolutely transversal and unifying way. Tomás Lobo: From black music to electronica, disco, soul and jazz, Tomás took up his passion for music from an early age. He is currently a resident member of the Pérola Negra Radio programme in Porto and plays in venues all over the country. The constant search for different and contemporary sounds characterises his sets. Whole Ball of Wax: Vanja aka Whole Ball of Wax is a music enthusiast and DJ originally from Milan, Italy. He’s been co-founder of Officina Radio (2017) and Jazz DAO (2022) and is currently active in the Lisbon scene, also co-running ‘The Right Tempo’ radio show on Totally Wired Radio (London). His style disregards genre boundaries, the music flow of his sets being dictated by emotion and by the dynamic exchange with the crowd. The American expression ‘the whole ball of wax’ - meaning 'everything', 'the whole thing', while hinting his passion for the vinyl format - says it all: in Vanja’s sets you can experience classic and Nu Disco mixed into ‘90s House, raw Funk into Reggae/Dub and Blues into African and Latin music, his trademark being a Jazz feeling subtly or explicitly ever-present in his sets. https://linktr.ee/whole_ball_of_wax
