Selekt Sounds as a label strives to unearth a distinct minimal sound- all while pushing the boundaries of striped back music. The intention is to simultaneously pull you in and provoke your listening experience. Overlaying jazzy & unique sounds with simple yet elevated bass lines, it all comes together formulating a captivating groove. Sekekt Sounds events are an embodiment of this, keeping you piqued with intrigued and moving on the dance floor. Selekt Sounds aims to cast a wide global reach and ground it in Brooklyn, we can’t wait to see you there. Shaun Reeves is an internationally-acclaimed DJ, producer and label owner. A founding member of the trailblazing group Visionquest, his influence reaches far beyond the cities he has called home and stretches around the globe. Grew up in Michigan he evolved into the Detroit scene getting inspiration and influence from the more minimal sound. Lived in Berlin for 10 years and cultivated a deep and impactful relationship with the community, the scene, and the fans on the dance floor. Traveling the globe with Visionquest Shaun’s sound has reached all over. Sharing his unique perspective and track selection ranging from classic house to cutting edge minimal, techno, and tech-house. Shaun ooks to focus on his musical creations - keep eyes peeled for quality releases and be sure to catch this set at Apollo Studios. Ohm Hourani thrives at the intersection of intellect and sound. This Montreal based artist has created a distinct fusion between technology and electronic music. All the while, continuing to challenge himself in the pursuit of sound. His record label ANOMA’s purpose is to curate distinct, minimal tracks with just the right touch of jazz influence. Funded by the Canada Council of Arts and released in 2019, debut full-length album Jazz of the Machine travels a didactic path carved by modular synthesizers and drum machines, navigated in the company of carefully hand-picked musicians and vocalists. Hourani’s passion is equally applied to piquing curiosity through his live sets. Compositions fueled with organic sound, live recordings, and fine tune sound engineering. You’ll be sure to hear many rare tracks, leaving you insightfully curious. Rupert Wall is a Brooklyn based DJ, producer, label owner of Selekt Sounds, and curator of this event. Wall has been captured by music for much of his life and electronic music spoke directly to his inquisitive mind. Almost 10 years ago starting off as a DJ, quickly diving deep into producing with bespoke modular synthesizers. His sound ranges from jazz influenced to psychedelic and hypnotic minimal. His sets tell a story with a groove driven narrative. Above all, Rupert Wall is a seeker of nuanced and unparalleled minimal sound.
