A pure sonic experience, set in complete darkness - the Sonic Film is a film that the audience inhabits and experiences with their whole body. Uninhibited by the visual sense with its defined boundaries, this new medium enhances one's physiological experience, vastly expanding possibilities for narrative creation and embodiment. Before each session you will be able to experience a Recalibration by Monom Studios to tune in your senses. This moment will serve to sharpen our attention and in particular our ability to listen more deeply, to listen with the whole body. For more information about Monom Studios follow them on instragram: @monomstudios and visit their website: www.monomsound.com ABOUT THE ARTISTS Hüma Utku Hailing from Istanbul, the Berlin based electronic music composer and sound artist Hüma Utku explores the possibilities of how sound textures and rhythm can be used to evoke a sense of ancient within advanced electronic music. With an overall disregard for genres she fuses field recordings, acoustic instruments, atmospheric ambience; into harmonious noise and harsh ritualistic rhythms as means to utilize sound and music as tools for storytelling. Combining her practice of music with her studies in psychology; Utku’s works draw inspiration from human condition, mysticism and folklore. In August 2018 Şeb-i Yelda (EP/12”) was released by Karlrecords, which presented Utku (as R.A.N.) with an evolved sound and strong theme to a wide audience. Following the international success of her EP, she released her debut full-length album under her own name Gnosis in July 2019 via the same label. This release gained Utku recognition for her unique approach of creating sonic story plots by merging concepts with experiments in electronic music. Her sophomore album , The Psychologist is released on Editions Mego in May 2022. This album has been cited as Utku’s most ambitious, authentic and complex work yet in which her background in psychology and her current practice as a conceptual music composer are intertwined. Since 2016, Utku has presented her work in festivals and institutions including Atonal Berlin, CTM Festival, HKW, and Radialsystem in Berlin; Salon IKSV in Istanbul, Donaufestival and Musikprotokoll in Austria, Sonic Acts and Today’s Art in Netherlands, Lunchmeat Festival in Czech Republic, Insomnia Festival in Norway and many others. Her work has received notable press from platforms such as The Wire, Noisey, RollingStone, Redbull Music, Groove Mag, Gonzo Circus, BantMag, Scene Noise among others, as well as getting broadcasted by seminal radio station and platforms such as BBC Radio 3, ORF, TRT, NTS radio, RAI 3, Resonance FM, YLE and Sveriges Radio. In 2021, Utku was selected as a SHAPE (Sound, Heterogeneous Art and Performance in Europe) artist. Soundwalk Collective w/ Charlotte Gainsbourg feat Atom™, Lyra Pramuk, Paul B. Preciado, Willem Dafoe - Lovotic Lovotic is a new field of research that seeks to explore and develop the possibilities of sexual and emotional relationships, and even love, between humans and robots. Soundwalk Collective interrogates the impulses, ideas, and needs underlying this research and ventures into a future where sex, intimacy, and desire are reformulated through the intertwined connection of humans, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Human identity in an age of hybrid entanglement of the human and the machine requires and enables the construction of new forms of intimacy, gender, and sexuality. At present, however, we use such technologies primarily to produce programs of limited sexual iterations without questioning preformatted categories of gender and sexuality upheld in the interest of bio-political and economic appropriation. In contrast, Soundwalk Collective, together with actors Charlote Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe , queer theorist Paul B. Preciado, and musicians Lyra Pramuk and Atom™, who contribute texts, sounds, and voices, ask whether the future of intimacy could rather be an exponentially expanding kaleidoscope of sexuality. Throughout the piece, gender-blurring voices of various post-human entities allow a new language to emerge, which is generated by self-learning algorithms based on a database of excerpts from 20th century studies and literary texts on sexuality and gender. Charlotte Gainsbourg, in the spotlight from an early age thanks to her illustrious parents – Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birken – Charlotte Gainsbourg has gone on to have an accomplished career of her own as an award-winning actress and singer-songwriter. Soundwalk Collective is an experimental collective loosely based in New York City and Berlin, but with a nomadic approach that has taken them around the world in their passion for sonic exploration, anthropology, and psycho-geography. Atom ™, Uwe Schmidt (a.k.a AtomTM, Atom Heart, and Señor Coconut) is a celebrated and ceaselessly prolific electronic music producer working under an ever-changing array of pseudonyms and personalities. Lyra Pramuk fuses classical vocalism, pop sensibilities, performance practices, and contemporary club culture in what can best be described as futurist folk music. She began releasing music independently on Soundcloud over four years ago, with her voice accompanied by minimal instrumentation and nearly imperceptible effects. Paul B. Preciado is a writer, philosopher, curator and one of the leading thinkers in the study of gender and body politics. Willem Dafoe, having made over one hundred films in his legendary career, Willem Dafoe is internationally respected for bringing versatility, boldness, and daring to some of the most iconic films of our time. His artistic curiosity in exploring the human condition leads him to projects all over the world, large and small, Hollywood films as well as independent cinema. ______________________________________________ FAQ What is SPATIAL sound? Spatial sound is a term to describe the way we have evolved to perceive space through sound - it refers to the way we hear sound naturally in the world around us, in all its complexity and depth. From above, below, around us, through and within us. The perfect spatial sound experience is the one we experience every day. When we refer to spatial sound technology, this is technology that aims to recreate this effect. ______________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE We advise coming 10 prior to the start of the sessions to enjoy a Recalibration by Monom Studios For a better experience we recommend having cell phones turned off as light can distract from the experience. If you need to leave the room in the middle of the session, please do so in silence. No cash accepted for the tickets, all the tickets are sold only on shotgun. Possibility to buy directly at the beginning of the event on shotgun.
