A pure sonic experience, set in complete darkness - the Sonic Film is a film that the audience inhabits and experiences with their whole body. Uninhibited by the visual sense with its defined boundaries, this new medium enhances one's physiological experience, vastly expanding possibilities for narrative creation and embodiment. Before each session you will be able to experience a Recalibration by Monom Studios to tune in your senses. This moment will serve to sharpen our attention and in particular our ability to listen more deeply, to listen with the whole body. Belfi has a strong live reputation internationally and his performances are known to be energetic and hypnotic, featuring long-arching immersive soundscapes. He was invited by Thom Yorke to open for his solo show on an international tour in 2019. His last releases Ore and Strata gained Belfi many new fans including tastemakers Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson, and Sasha Frere-Jones among others. Over the last few years, he’s been collaborating and touring with artists such as Nils Frahm, Mouse on Mars, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Mike Watt, Circuit des Yeux, David Grubbs. He has been on stage at Philharmonie de Paris, Montreux Jazz Festival, The Greek Theater (Los Angeles), Unsound Festival (Krakow), Barbican Center (London), Issue Project Room (New York), and CTM Festival (Berlin). Echo Collective Neil Leiter, describes what moved him, Margaret Hermant & Fabien Leseure to explore and create with the 4DSOUND composition instrument. ‘We have a long established interest in physical space, and how that physical space impacts creation and interaction. And as musicians, we constantly search for new ways to share our creative energy. Our goal at Monom Studios is to juxtapose these two questions. How will this space inspire us to create? And, how will this moment of creation be archived and experienced in the future? Monom offers an unparalleled opportunity to find new answers to these fundamental questions. As a color palette, we plan on combining prerecorded textures with live violin, viola and harp featuring Echo Collective's founding members, Margaret Hermant and Neil Leiter, along with sound shaper Fabien Leseure’ Founded by Neil Leiter and Margaret Hermant, Brussels-based Echo Collective have forged in only a few years an enviable reputation in the post-classical world: sought out for their instrumental and arranging expertise by icons such as A Winged Victory For The Sullen and the late Jóhann Jóhannsson, or lending their interpretative intuition to genres as diverse as alt.rock, synth-pop and black metalm Echo Collective are equally inspired creators, using their past accomplishments as a springboard to a new, illuminating vision. Echo Collective was conceived when Margaret Hermant and Neil Leiter collaborated with Adam Wiltzie and Dustin O’Halloran’s A Winged Victory For The Sullen. The American-born Leiter was introduced to Wiltzie by their mutual friend, the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and musician Caroline Shaw. Since this inception, Leiter, and Belgian violinist and harpist Hermant, has gone on to perform as Echo Collective in venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and L’Auditori Barcelona, as well as festivals such as Latitude, Big Ears, ATP, La Route du Rock, Eurosonic, Reeperbahn and Primavera. ______________________________________________ FAQ What is SPATIAL sound? Spatial sound is a term to describe the way we have evolved to perceive space through sound - it refers to the way we hear sound naturally in the world around us, in all its complexity and depth. From above, below, around us, through and within us. The perfect spatial sound experience is the one we experience every day. When we refer to spatial sound technology, this is technology that aims to recreate this effect. ______________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE We advise coming 10 prior to the start of the sessions to enjoy a Recalibration by Monom Studios For a better experience we recommend having cell phones turned off as light can distract from the experience. If you need to leave the room in the middle of the session, please do so in silence. No cash accepted for the tickets, all the tickets are sold only on shotgun. Possibility to buy directly at the beginning of the event on shotgun.
