Uma Espécie de Azul. A groovy house, as they say on 102.6 FM. And they say it for a reason. A house where dance music has its own vision and shape in the ears and curation of Jorge Caiado. He, who besides being a DJ and producer, is the mind and hands behind Carpet & Snares Records in Lisbon, which in itself is synonymous with record labels, distribution company, parties, support tools for the scene, and of course, a record store specializing in music that makes us dance. Uma Espécie de Azul weekly showcases the latest in dance electronic music, exploring House as its central axis, but peeking at sub-genres and styles that float around what was originally created in Chicago and Detroit in the late 80s. With a foot in jazz and roots in black music, the music chosen by Jorge Caiado has an authorial thread that ultimately connects all this music in a very particular way. This program has been airing faithfully since 2018 every Friday night from 11 PM to midnight, and now in 2023 it reaches the lovely milestone of 5 years of weekly broadcasts. And I think we all agree that this is more than enough justification for a celebration as it should be. And how should it be, you ask? Well, nothing better than celebrating music with more music, and in this case, an extension of what happens on the radio through the Hertzian frequencies to the dance floors. In other words, we will extend the 1-hour weekly program to 5 dance floors across the country, in a format where Jorge Caiado takes on the club's turntables from start to finish, in an attempt to reproduce the "extended mix" version of what he does on the radio weekly, but this time on the dance floors for many hours, bringing the best of contemporary electronic music with some of the best "lost" gems in time in a session where there will be no shortage of reasons to dance. The first all-night session will take place on February 4th in Lisbon at the main floor of Ministerium Club, a reference club in the capital's clubbing scene. The next dates of the celebration tour of Jorge Caiado's 5-year author program on Radio Oxigénio will be announced very soon, and the last one is already stamped and will take place in the invicta city on May 12th at the Plano B club in the downtown Porto. In between, Jorge Caiado will visit Faro, Aveiro and Funchal. Until then, keep tuned in as there is much music to breathe and discover in shades of blue.
