À propos
It began when Diaa Lagan, a Syrian visual artist residing in Dublin, asked Mohannad El-Masria, a Palestinian filmmaker residing in Gaza, to send him videos that showcase his day-to-day life in Gaza under Israel’s ongoing genocide on its people. Diaa then gathered the footage and went to Fuad Halwani, media artist residing in Lisbon and asked him if they could edit the video together, via video call. This unplanned collaboration between the three artists culminated in an 18-minute essay video titled GAZA.MP4 which will be the highlight of the fundraised event in BOTA on August 7, 2024. The goal of this event is to raise funds that can help Mohannad and his family endure a life during a brutal war. The raised funds are not for evacuation - the family plans to stay on their land - but to aid them in sustaining their constant displacement since the war started.
