Friday, January 9th we’re gathering in CARGO to celebrate a true pillar of New York nightlife: Ali Coleman DJ, organizer, connector, and lifelong advocate for the dance floor as he marks another trip around the sun. A veteran of the city’s underground, Ali is the force behind long-running institutions like Voice of Voice NYC and Let’s Dance Brooklyn. In 2023, he celebrated 30 years of professionally bringing people together through music, culture, and inclusion. Over the decades, Ali has played and hosted at nearly every meaningful room in the city from House of Yes and Nowadays to Cielo, Public Records, Club Shelter, Santos Party House, and beyond sharing lineups with icons like François K, Natasha Diggs, Rich Medina, Justin Carter, and Doc Martin. He's on the decks from midnight until 3am CARGO. Opening in the room is Silent H, setting the tone with deep house selections designed to warm the room and ease the night into motion. A resident with Love City NYC and a frequent presence behind the decks at Xanadu Roller Rink, she brings a soulful sensibility rooted in groove and dance. She’s played at iconic spots like Tunnel, Save the Robots, Sound Factory Bar, Café con Leche and the Central Park Roller Skating Circle, bringing that lived-in perspective directly behind the decks. Her selections lean deep and soulful informed by roller skating and dance culture with an instinct for warming a room without rushing it, always locked into the dancers in front of her. In the FOYER, Philly’s own Michael The Lion takes the decks. Known for blending live studio-band energy with razor-sharp crate-digging, Michael’s productions and remixes for labels like Soul Clap and Razor-N-Tape have become modern underground staples. His collaborations span from Amy Douglas (Horse Meat Disco / HardFeelings) to legends like Ron Basejam, Jamie 3:26, Tom Moulton, and John Morales. Formerly half of RCMP and previously DJ Apt One, Michael continues to push funk forward with a sound built for the floor, funky, fearless, and full of soul. He’s joined by Rok One, an old soul, but don’t call him an old head! A quintessential New York City DJ, Rok came of age in the ’90s hip-hop scene, where crate-digging culture and sample-heavy production opened the door to everything from funk, disco, salsa, reggae, and freestyle to house, techno, breakbeat, drum & bass, and beyond. Add in early synth-pop and new wave influences, plus time as a Studio B resident at the height of Indie Sleaze and you get a selector who honors the past while staying firmly pointed forward. As a member of the ItaloMatic crew, Rok is known for synth-driven, ’80s-inspired sets that move effortlessly without pandering, educating without slowing the room down. Free before 10pm w/ RSVP | 21+ Venue opens at 5PM | Happy Hour 5PM-8PM | Music at 9PM
