Get ready for a night of diverse, energetic selections! On Saturday, September 9th, we welcome Sister Zo for her Apollo Studio debut! After getting her start performing at underground poetry events in her hometown of Kansas City, she eventually moved on to playing live beat sets during open mic nights at one of KC's most pivotal queer nightlife institutions of the 21st century, the Uptown Arts Bar. Upstairs from Uptown Arts Bar, Zo got her first taste of the sounds of the UK bass continuum and the LA beat scene at Niche, a 100-cap club with a legendary sound system known as the Meta HiFi. In 2017, Zo along with friends Mazzy Mann and Lorelei Kretsinger founded the UN/TUCK queer/trans collective and record label. Under the name BTRFLY, Zo produced her own LA-inspired beats and rapped over them in her sets. Now based in New York, The Bunker NY resident has made definitive creative statements in 2022, releasing her debut EP, Screw Cheek, on acclaimed UK club label, Scuffed Recordings, and a follow-up EP, Freak Shift, on Martyn's hallowed 3024 imprint, as well as a slew of national bookings at The Bunker NY, Texture Detroit, Sole Rehab, clubs like Nowadays, Basement, Good Room and Kremwerk, festivals like Slingshot and Honcho Campout and many more on the horizon. We also welcome back one of our favorite artists, Julie Marghilano! Julie is a multi talented musician and performer – trained classical violinist, daughter of a jazz musician father and vocalist mother, her roots run deep and have flourished throughout the endeavors she's pursued, created or worked on. The DJ, producer and label owner of Sol Asylum is an eclectic selector with a library of records spanning years that explores a myriad of nuances and genres within dance music and beyond. With coveted residencies in the formative years of renowned clubs in Italy, Peter Pan, Echoes, and the Berlin institution, Club der Visionäre/Hoppetosse, Julie has solidified her place as a respected artist in the dance music scene. Hailing from Las Vegas, she now calls Berlin home after residing in Italy. She regularly travels the world touring in clubs and festivals from Flash to Golden Records to Slowdance to Freerotation festival. Although most of her productions are concentrated on music for the dancefloor, Julie enjoys pushing her musical boundaries with different genres, such as the experimental ambient track she made for the Advanced Public Listening compilation using only 7 violin loops and an FX Pedal. Her Track 'Human' is featured alongside Matthew Herbert, Move D, Takeshi Nishimoto, Atom TM, Ricardo Villalobos and more. As an unwavering artist, Julie is committed to showcasing her musical vision through the release of vinyl records, secret AKA projects and dynamic DJ/live performances. She continues to be a source of inspiration for others to find their own unique form of self-expression both on and off the dancefloor. Kiyoshi hails from Tbilisi, Georgia, a growing hotspot for underground electronic music. She has been spinning vinyl for almost six years now, curating a hot and heavy collection. Always passionate about experimenting with different music genres, Kiyoshi will keep you on your toes while she weaves weird wax into her sets. Brooklyn based, California native Corrina bought her first record just three years ago, the same time she moved to NYC, got her hands on turntables, and has been hooked on playing vinyl ever since. A rising selector who has already shared the decks with the likes of Lauren Flax, Nicola Cruz, Titonton Duvante, and Adam Collins, her selections reflect her versatility, musical evolution, and exploration of many genres... basically anything with a nice groove and an even nicer snare.
