About DJ Lag: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/realdjlag/?hl=en Listen: https://push.fm/fl/9nszoa3o DJ Lag, born Lwazi Asanda Gwala, is a pioneering figure in the gqom music scene from Durban, South Africa, characterized by its bass-heavy, shuffled, South African rhythms and aspects of house and trap that incorporate sounds not too dissimilar to reggaeton and dancehall. Recently, DJ Lag was named DJ Mag’s 100 of the World’s Best DJs DJ Lag has performed at major festivals worldwide, including Sonar Barcelona, MELT Festival in Germany, Afropunk Atlanta, London's Jazz Café, and Magnetic Fields in India, where Resident Advisor praised his set. His 2021 European tour featured stops at the Boiler Room Festival in London and Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), and in 2022 he played at Dekmantel in Amsterdam and debuted in Mexico. DJ Lag's notable collaborations include producing "My Power" for Beyoncé’s Grammy-nominated album The Lion King: The Gift, and recent tracks like "Bulldozer" with UK’s Novelist and "Where’s Your Father?" with Que DJ. He also remixed Moderat’s "DRUM GLOW." In July 2023, DJ Lag performed his sixth Boiler Room set in New York City. Back home, he hosts the popular Something for Clermont shows, celebrating his deep connection to his hometown and its vibrant music scene.
