Function, the moniker of Brooklyn-born, Berlin-based David Sumner, began his determined career as a resident of Limelight before solidifying his name on the global scale as a founding member of Sandwell District collective with Regis and the late Silent Servant. His ear as a producer and label owner [Infrastructure New York] gleams with a pummeling-yet-polished intensity. After presenting her debut solo album on Sumner’s imprint last Fall, Nastia Reigel goes back-to-back with the veteran. Reigel’s ability to translate the hypnotic, repetitive nature of techno into a personal waveform is bar none, adapting her sound to the needs of shifting dancefloors without compromising emotional resonance. Together, a mesmerizing blend of refined rhythms, rolling kicks, and a procurement of modern techno. New York mainstay DAIYAH debuts in The Atrium. Her unbridled DJ sets lean hard and dark, bringing a fresh voice to landmarks in NYC, Berlin, Detroit, and beyond while pushing the genre forward with fresh lineups for her own event series RNR. 1morning drives the room with a funkier momentum. His vinyl sets present the rugged edge of old-school, mixing crunchy low ends and hard chops with new-school finesse. The Mixtape Club’s’ Butter, who has been organizing parties, hosting radio shows, and working in record stores, since the '90s, handles the vibe UPSTAIRS. - Public Records aims to provide a safer space.
