As we continue the tradition of going Into the Void, I am excited to announce my first party as Tekunomama Productions. We have a killer lineup with LA’s own Truncate headlining our show along with LA Based Dean Paul, Henry Chow, and Denver’s own Mort.Domed! TRUNCATE: After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouses, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the moniker Audio Injection, which landed on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 and continues today as resident at the infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. In early 2011, he started the project 'Truncate' to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases have been gain critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, East Everything, Jooris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink! for Pets Recordings, Slam for Soma, and Trus’me for Prime Numbers. He has also released original tracks on 50 Weapons and on Ultramajic as a collaboration with Jimmy Edgar. A rigorous international tour schedule has followed, including included stops at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam and Output in New York.
With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground. DEAN PAUL: A Los Angeles native and resident DJ/producer for Droid Behavior, Dean Paul De Leon incorporates the culture and diversity he experiences through travel and everyday life into his passion for music, photography and technology. Exposed to the electronic scene early on, Dean transitioned easily from part of the crowd to part of the movement. In the early 2000s Dean began creating and producing his own mixes, immersing himself in the world of techno music, familiarizing himself with iconic producers such as Aphex twin, Richie Hawtin / [Plastikman] and Jeff Mills. As Dean matured, he became dedicated to his own evolution — his passion the driving motivation to produce unique and original tracks. His innovative musical style has enabled him to play sets throughout North America and Mexico, and his talent has gained him credibility from his peers, producers and fellow musicians, with performances alongside such acts as Chris Liebing, Modeselektor and Gery Beck. His full-time residency with DROID BEHAVIOR has contributed to his constantly growing fanbase and allowed him to maintain close relationships with some of the industry’s most renowned engineers, producers and artists. Humbled by his success he continues to focus on his passion for exploring different aspects of digital technology, reading and concentrating his time and effort on perfecting his talents. HENRY CHOW: Henry Chow's productions lie at the musical intersection of a fine souffle and the most thorough enhanced TSA security groping. Always known for timeless funky bass lines and outer space melodies, Henry started the DJ voyage in 1996. With his b-boy roots, his music interests started with hip hop, funk, and rare grooves, and expanded to include house, drum 'n bass, and eventually techno. He began buying techno music for Chemistry Records, where record store employee Tim Xavier would sneak Chow records to listen to. By the turn of the millennium, he had started playing on the MKULTRA radio show on Rice University's KTRU 91.7 FM on a regular basis, and then moved on to throwing a string of warehouse parties featuring his raw, percussion-driven techno sound. Along the way, Henry released records on, among other labels, Marco Carola's Zenit imprint, that brought him gigs through out the States and overseas. With his mind blown by one fateful visit to the Robert Johnson club during a tour through Germany, Henry came back to Houston to set the stage for what would eventually become a new musical direction in the studio, and a new series of events under the name Crossroads along with his friend Sasha Braverman. Together they have hosted one of Texas' longest running monthly parties, bringing to town some of the best talent from around the world. Constantly reuniting new and classic sounds, Henry's DJ sets keep dance floors captivated and moved all night long. MORT.DOMED: Mort.domed is the techno alias of Denver-based producer Jack Oertli. So what in tarnation is a mort.domed, you might ask? “Well, ‘mort’ was this slang word we had back home, and as with most slang, there were a couple of definitions," Oertli explains. "But essentially it served as a substitute for ‘fuck,’ so mort.domed can more or less be translated to ‘fuck-brained.’” Back home is Austin, Texas, where Oertli found a deep obsession with leftfield electronic music at a young age. But unlike the vast majority of teenagers in the U.S., he was not only listening to this music, he was also experiencing it, partying at clubs years before he was legally able to. “At [the age of] sixteen in Austin, I started reaching out to progressive artists like Fehrplay, Jeremy Olander and Eekkoo online and was getting into these clubs underage. I guess they were stoked on young peeps reaching out. In a handful of instances, I’d get their manager’s number and have someone from the club pull me backstage with the big X on my hands," Oertli recalls
