À propos
Boo Lean (Lauren Goshinski) is a DJ and curator who’s crafted some of the most forward-thinking dancefloors and AV shows over the past decade. A trusted ear in more ways than one, she’s known behind the scenes as a founder and curator of festivals and spaces like VIA Festival, New Forms Festival, Hot Mass and her current residencies at Public Records and The Lot Radio. She’s also a board member of Resident Advisor, holding it down for independent scenes in a big way. In the booth she’s eclectic and elastic — playing with genre, tempo, pressure and pace to a mesmerizing result. Carving out murky chambers of hyperbaric dub, rollicking mountains of freaky drum play, crystalline pools of vocal hooks and euphoric melody, to all-out bass caverns for your booty, it’s all about riding an edge without falling off for Boo. She helped pioneer a new generation of audio-visual festivals in the US, co-founding the VIA Festival in 2010 in Pittsburgh, PA, and has utilized every opportunity to make viable space for womxn & non-binary promoters and artists across all her projects. As a curator she's facilitated unique collaborations between Oneohtrix Point Never/Nate Boyce, House of Kenzo/Team Rolfes, Pussykrew/Kelela, and supported breakout talent both in their early days and now: Yaeji, Juliana Huxtable, Aurora Halal, and Lotic to Giant Swan, Laurel Halo, NAAFI, Mike Q, Cakes da Killa, Junglepussy, Empress Of, Light Asylum, Nene H, Lafawndah, Jimmy Edgar, Jessy Lanza, Abdu Ali, Purple Tape Pedigree… the list is 1,000+ deep and keeps growing. Like any good rave mom, she curates programs that can thoughtfully link new voices with their predecessors like ESG, Tommy Wright III, Betty Davis, MC Lyte, Rakim, Richard Devine, Moodymann, Underground Resistance, Teklife DJs and more … encourage us to create new worlds together. -- Sobolik is a DJ, producer, musician and occasional writer born in the Hudson Valley, New York and currently based in Queens. They make colorful, drum-focused music in an array of different styles, appearing on key modern bass outposts like London’s All Centre and CloudCore, Turin’s early reflex, Amsterdam’s Flippen Disks, DC’s 3024, and Dublin’s Woozy. Sobolik's output reacts to a broad palette of references within both North American and UK club music. As a member of the Antidote and Kindergarten collectives, they work to connect these dots among like-minded artists in the Brooklyn rave ecosystem. They currently hold a Lot Radio residency with the Kindergarten crew and co-organize Antidote, a queer day rave whose previous bookings include DJ Voices, Russell E.L. Butler, Sister Zo, and Ron Like Hell. And as a DJ, they are having a banner year, joining the likes of CCL, Sicaria, Succubass, Violet, Soso Tharpa, and DJ Sega for gigs at home and abroad. Keep an eye out later this fall for their hotly anticipated Honcho Campout set recording! -- Sheepshead Sheepshead is a born-and-bred Brooklynite curator/DJ who has been helming the Newtype Rhythms series for Inverted Audio since 2017. Highlighting artists on the come-up along with surprise sets from legendary titans, the series has developed into an event series that has been hosted in local Brooklyn institutions such as Jupiter Disco, Elsewhere and beyond. Additionally, you’ve probably seen him play parties at Bossa Nova, Good Room, House Of Yes and beyond whilst popping over for a set or two at The Lot Radio. Gathering influences from pivotal experiences at seminal parties such as Dub War and The Bunker, Sheepshead aims to continue the legacy of those events by entering into sonic parts unknown - playing out unique bass mutations that bounce between genres whilst never taking it all too seriously.
