PRESIDENT'S DAY, Monday 2/19, our friend Takaaki Itoh will be returning to play for our biggest event yet at the Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge. Active in the scene since the early '90s, Takaaki has been one of Japan's most prominent and influential figures of techno, as a DJ, producer, promoter and founder of the record label WOLS. Takaaki's production and track selection is hypnotic, cerebral, and heavy in ambience. In more visceral terms, the sound is dark, deep, and often, as he has described, "wet". Throughout his sets, there's a consistent feeling of venturing into the unknown. Takaaki builds his story slowly, thus 4 hours have been allotted for him to perform as both the headliner and closer for this show. The event will also feature Niqi (Infra), NXOR (live synth), and a 2-hour set from Brooklyn-based duo and A Delicate Balance (Nicolò Bernardi and Sploofi). We're very excited and grateful to be hosting Multicultural Art Center's first techno show. Traditionally a performing arts space, the beautiful 200-capacity venue features an ornate, high ceiling with marble flooring and a wraparound balcony which will be used for lighting. The music and venue itself are both expected to take on a new character through their contrasting fusion. Set times (approximate): 3:00PM - 4:30PM | Niqi 4:30PM - 6:30PM | A Delicate Balance 6:30PM - 7:00PM | NXOR 7:00PM - 11:00PM | Takaaki Itoh ***If you had tickets to Body Heat III, email rsvp@nosleep.am to be added to the guest list for this event (use the same email you bought your ticket with). This event is 21+ with valid ID (US license/state ID or passport) required upon entry.
