The Red Lantern party is a Lunar Year Celebration that brings together different social, musical, artistic nightlife cultures together for a celebration of culture and festivities. In Chinese tradition, the lantern ( 燈籠 Dēnglóng) are the stars of the Lantern Festival, that illuminate a safe path home at night. The roundness of the lanterns symbolizes harmony and unity - key themes in the Red Lantern party. This event seeks strengthen the pride around the AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) community within NYC nightlife. Through curated displays, decorations and communication, in-conjunction with carefully selected musical artists and ambiance, this event will also bring light to the diverse and colorful culture, history and traditions of the AAPI community. Through the euphoric culture of dance music, this event will not only showcase cutting-edge sound but will also inspire a transformative experience within our Brooklyn family. Featuring Artists: Amy Jor Connie Dalton Taylor Like Mee Vivian Wang Amy Jor Growing up, Amy was first exposed into the world of music & art at 5 through dance, guitar, keyboard, and around 13 years, she began digging deeper into electronic music & going through many different phases of subgenres (house, deep house, classic house, minimal, microhouse, dub techno, melodic, electro, breakbeat, left-field, disco, neo soul, jazz funk, +++). Her style is an exploration & a combination of everything she loves x the environment x her current mood 🙁 🙂 >:) 😠 >..> 😉 :3 . Amy started interning at production & DJ school TPA Studios NYC at 15, where she dipped her toes into music production & sound design w/ Ableton & Logic. That is also where she first learned to DJ and made friends who showed her different record shops (A1, Halcyon, turntablelab NYC🥲❤️), & sparked her love for collecting & spinning records w/ friends. Shortly after, Amy went to SAE Institute NY to study recording, mixing, mastering, & post-production. Amy is now studying art & design, production, music theory, jazz keyboard improvisation, and spending her free time bothering her cats, experimenting in the kitchen, listening +++gatekeeping good records, and trying to find friends who get it. With a deep fluid mix of forward thinking 4/4 styles and a defined rhythmic sensibility that flows from her alter egos as a thumping rock drummer and newbie bass player, Connie is a steady crowd favorite and an accomplished pro who always brings the goods. Whether it is as resident DJ for ReSolute, one of the world’s hottest itinerant underground parties, or on the road touring from Brazil to Dubai, Connie’s aptitude and vigorous devotion to her craft have earned her turns alongside a litany of techno’s best. Connie uses her own success to inspire other women to enter the world of DJing. To date she has privately trained 15 students. Connie has been producing electronic music since 2009, under the ‘Constar’ moniker as well as Connie Yin, with a dozen releases available digitally and on vinyl, under labels such as Bedrock Records. Connie’s love for music spans beyond electronic music; for the last 20 years, Connie has always been involved with at least one band at all times. Current live music projects include songwriting and drumming with post punk band Jilted Lover; playing bass guitar with rock/punk band Bricklip; and creating techno synthpop in synth & machine heavy band Chic Choc; and also making music videos, her newfound passion. Playing venues like Quantum, Kings Hall at Avant Garder, Brooklyn Monarch and many more, Dalton has found a way to curate intricately banging sets ranging from house to techno. Starting his career DJing in Manhattan at venues like Le Bain, Dalton has dug further into the underground Brooklyn, diligently unearthing sounds that shake the planet. As the saying goes, there's always two sides of a coin. Mike Lee dawns the moniker Like Mee to cause his audience to question what is often taken for face value. She is classically trained and started her musical journey on the piano and violin and discovered electronic music at an early age through her father. Now based in New York, Vivian spends time in the studio, producing music live with analogue equipment, but more importantly recognizing that she is a lifelong student of music. She is also an up and coming selector in the NYC music community. Vivian started out as a classically trained pianist and discovered her passion for creating and playing music on the dancefloor and in the studio. She embraces the elements of house techno blended with the soul of Detroit, resulting in a sophisticated groove that originates from her contagious energy. She's been able to share the decks with the likes of Juan Atkins, Cassy, Danny Tenaglia, Seth Troxler, Anfisa Letyago, and recently performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art & internationally in Berlin and Istanbul. She is a co-founder of Freshly Pressed, a music collective focused on bringing the siloed and fragmented music communities together to promote positive impact through fundraising for crucial programs impacting education for underrepresented communities and giving back like Opportunity Music Project, Willie Mae Rock Camp, and Sounds of Saving.
