Sainte Francis (AKA Rob Wilson Engle) is a Brooklyn-based DJ, writer and creator highly active at the intersection of house music history and club culture. Originally hailing from Pittsburgh, Sainte Francis cut his teeth in the New York nightlife scene. His sonic style is influenced by the liberating sounds of Disco, the unmistakable soul of Classic Chicago House, and the heavy-hitting rhythms and bass lines of Old School New York & Detroit House. At his residencies throughout New York, he curates soulful, cross-genre sets blending classic tracks with modern vocal motifs. His respect for electronic music as a category borne from Black, Latin and LGBTQ+ culture is apparent in his eclectic DJing style, in which he aims to pay homage to the roots of dance music. Sainte Francis is a rising star in the New York house and disco scene, having performed at preeminent nightlife institutions including Superior Ingredients | Musica | Somewhere Nowhere | Café Balearica | Ponyboy | HUSH | Mr. Purple and other venues throughout the U.S. His original party, SUNDOWN (hosted at Somewhere Nowhere) pays homage to a heyday of house music, Ibiza and the Balearic Islands in the 90s, and has welcomed legendary artists including Todd Terry. Additionally, Sainte Francis has been invited to perform at events associated with Miami’s Art Basel and New York Fashion Week. He is a contributor for Gray Area, a premier dance music collective with the mission to unite the international house music community. He has interviewed and profiled internationally-renowned artists including: Rimarkable, Prunk, LEFTI, Skream, Worakls, Franky Rizardo and more.
