A pure sonic experience, set in complete darkness - the Sonic Film is a film that the audience inhabits and experiences with their whole body. Uninhibited by the visual sense with its defined boundaries, this new medium enhances one's physiological experience, vastly expanding possibilities for narrative creation and embodiment. Before each session you will be able to experience a Recalibration by Monom Studios to tune in your senses. This moment will serve to sharpen our attention and in particular our ability to listen more deeply, to listen with the whole body. - About the Artists & Projects Ruby Singh Ruby Singh's Vox.Infold is an a cappella offering, composed and (remarkably) recorded at a time when singing together was something that could kill us. Against the backdrop of the covid 19 pandemic and amidst potent social unrest, this powerhouse vocal ensemble of Indigenous, Inuit, Black and South Asian voices, reimagined how to sing together. The resulting work is so much more than a convergence of diverse vocal traditions but a complex rendering of what’s possible when we can hold each other's humanity. The album dives into a full bodied, resonant and sensuous expression housed in polyrhythm, lush harmonies, mimicry, and polyphonic poetry. The resulting sonic landscape encompasses a non-linear journey in which we may find and care for each other. Evoking loneliness, joy, the mysterious and supernatural, Vox.Infold brings together musical luminaries, Dawn Pemberton, Inuksuk Mackay and Tiffany Ayalik of PIQSIQ, Russell Wallace, Tiffany Moses, Shamik Bilgi and Ruby Singh. They remind us that the human voice is an adaptation of the metabolic activity most crucial to our existence – breathing. This is how the atmosphere enters our beings and how we know we are intimately connected to our world. - Thibaut Javoy EXT “Saint-Remy-de-Provence, early in the morning, sitting in the middle of a field, headphones on my ears, "play-rec" on the tape recorder, I record the atmosphere. Eyes closed, I listen. The song of the birds, the rumor of the road, the cracking of a branch, the murmur of a stream, the wind in the leaves, a passing bee, children playing in background... Gently, nature starts to rhythm, melodies appear to form a symphony of reality, abstract and musical. The experience inspires me EXT. An immersive concert where the listener is immersed in this universe. Slowly, a loop element stands out, then others in response. The sounds cut, sampled, looped, upside down, chopped or morphed with others create concrete improvised music in motion. Synthesizers, keyboards and saxophones accompany the melodies, in an ambient, organic and enveloping climate. The paintings follow one another in a very slow rhythm, making travel between reality and auditory fiction. The immersive concert is projected in “acousmatic” listening, in the dark, in multi- channel ambisonic, allowing to re-create a spatialization in 3 dimensions.” Duration: 1 hour ______________________________________________ FAQ What is SPATIAL sound? Spatial sound is a term to describe the way we have evolved to perceive space through sound - it refers to the way we hear sound naturally in the world around us, in all its complexity and depth. From above, below, around us, through and within us. The perfect spatial sound experience is the one we experience every day. When we refer to spatial sound technology, this is technology that aims to recreate this effect. ______________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE We advise coming 20 prior to the start of the sessions to enjoy Monom Studios Recalibrations For a better experience we recommend having cell phones turned off as light can distract from the experience. If you need to leave the room in the middle of the session, please do so in silence. No cash accepted for the tickets, all the tickets are sold only on shotgun. Possibility to buy directly at the beginning of the event on shotgun. - Spatial Sound by MONOM Studios Production: 3537 Technology: 4DSOUND Thanks to Dover Street Market Paris Visual identity by Studio Doppelgänger
