Join us at The Factory St. Pete as we invite NYC's Volvox (Unter) & Auspex (ALTÆR), along with Miami's Jovan (Romaticos) for a night of proper, raw, hard-grooving techno, for the 23rd edition of the Fader Warehouse Series! 360 DANCE FLOOR WAREHOUSE EXPERIENCE VISUALS, PROPER SOUND & PRODUCTION LATE NIGHT, DARK PARTY /////////////////////////////////// VOLVOX (Unter | Jack Dept., NYC) "Uneasy times call for uneasy music, which makes New York’s Volvox just the DJ we need right now." -Philip Sherburne, Pitchfork A dominant force on the Brooklyn underground scene, Ariana is known for tough, stripped-back techno and groovy, acid-flavored sets. She has been a busy DJ and event producer since 2006 and in that time has shared the decks with many international stars including The Blessed Madonna, Marcel Dettmann, Ellen Allien, DVS1, The Hacker, Legowelt and Mike Servito. Based in NYC since 2011, she holds two monthly residencies: JACK DEPT. NYC at Bossa Nova Civic Club is a top event of the notorious hotspot that's focused on an acidic house party vibe featuring standout DJs and producers from across the burgeoning American scene. The mighty UNTER party pushes the harder edges of techno and is one of New York's most essential underground events. Raised in Buffalo, New York, her early experiences in the industrial and rave scenes of rust-belt America shaped her outlook on dance culture. An ardent supporter of the underground, she was a key figure in developing the electronic music scene in Boston, Massachusetts from 2007-2010. Breaking out internationally in 2015 she has enjoyed a busy tour schedule including noted appearances at Dekmantel and the ascendant Sustain-Release festival in upstate New York. Since then she tours extensively across Europe and makes regular appearances at Berghain/Panorama Bar in Berlin. She tours South America yearly and will return to Asia in 2023. Ariana is a unique character on the US scene guaranteed to bring a high energy show that lights up dance floors with an undeniable spirit. /////////////////////////////////// AUSPEX (ALTÆR | Oath, NYC) Auspex (n.) pl. aus·pi·ces, An augur of ancient Rome, especially one who interpreted omens derived from various methods of divination. A diviner, prophet, foreteller. Having cut his teeth over the years coming up through Brooklyn’s warehouse scene, Auspex has solidified himself as a regular fixture and contributor to its underground techno community, a tireless organizer very much at home in the city's vibrant queer nightlife scene. His vision of techno as a ritual of power, self-exploration and spiritual catharsis shows in his sets and selections: a uniquely ritualistic, darkly throbbing sound that weaves voyagers into an incantatory, near-spiritual experience of power and submission, alternating between moments of austere reverence and buoyant, bubbling mischievousness; long, mind-bending blends ride the rails, expertly milking tension and release with a gleeful impishness amidst an air-raid intensity that is a hallmark of his sound. This uncompromising and unapologetic style saw him tapped to play as support for many international touring acts from Phase Fatale to Randomer, Answer Code Request to Headless Horseman, Juan Atkins to Rebekah—as well as being called upon to throw down with regular appearances at NYC techno institutions and parties such as Unter, The Black Hole and The Bunker New York. The past few years have also seen him breaking through in other cities throughout the US, from San Francisco to Miami, Washington DC to Boston. Beyond the US, Auspex has made frequent appearances in the Eastern hemisphere’s techno capitol, Berlin, where he has played infamous parties such as Staub, Pornceptual and Gegen, and has made multiple appearances at clubs like RSO, Renate, ://about blank and the now defunct Griessmuehle over the years. Auspex launched his first party series, Dominion, in the summer of 2018, in response to a dearth of functions serving a rapidly growing and underserved audience for techno in the NYC area. It saw instant success, hosting noteworthy locals and touring acts and cementing itself as a destination for music and selection driven revelry. His work on this project saw his profile in the NYC scene grow even further, eventually leading to him being tapped to be part of the opening night Brooklyn’s newest nightclub, Basement. Auspex would become a regular fixture of nights at Basement, leading up to the conceptualization and launch of his residency party, ALTÆR, brought to life in 2020 shortly before the pandemic brought our communities crashing to a halt. Upon the return of somewhat normal existence, ALTÆR would come roaring back to life, making up for lost time with a veritable who’s who of international techno talents like SNTS, Volvox, Henning Baer, Stephanie Sykes, Nur Jaber, Regal, Fiedel, Efdemin, Cleric, P.E.A.R.L., Slam, Adriana Lopez, Flavia Laus, VSK and many more to come. The party would come to be known as an intentional space, a haven for techno music lovers still committed to this music’s use as tool for discovery and self reflection, a gathering place for cathartic dance floor experiences and queer community. Never one to do things halfway, Auspex would also come to translate his experience as a classically trained orchestral multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and sound designer into the practice of his techno craft, releasing his first production work on a V/A in early 2019, unbeknownst to him that it would soon open the floodgates to a substantial body of work, with EPs and tracks released across labels like Soma Records, Diffuse Reality, Måinmise Records, Insane Industry, Ōtomo, Vexed Sphere and more. This would also give rise to the creation of his own imprint, Oath, where as label boss he oversees his material with his most distinctly personal point-of-view. /////////////////////////////////// JOVAN (Romanticos, Miami) Growing up in the rave and club scene in Miami shaped Jovan’s sound for dance floor. The combination of his Latin roots by way of his Dominican Republic heritage along with being raised with American music culture influenced Jovan to find sound that can translate to almost anyone who is listening. His ability to keep a consistent groove through his sets is what people love when they hear him play. Dark, endless rhythms combined with fast, pulsating beats. Having recently moved back to Miami full-time, he’s been stacking gigs and working on his productions, along with running Romanticos, where he hosts intimate rave experiences centered around techno. Catch Jovan making his return to the Fader stage, but this time for this St. Pete/Tampa debut, alongside Volvox & Auspex, Friday, November 24th at The Factory! //////////////////////////////////// 18+ ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL.
