Gui Boratto is a São Paulo-born architect-turned-producer who stands as one of Brazil’s most influential figures in electronic music. Known for his masterful blend of techno, house, and emotive melodies, Boratto’s sound is both cerebral and deeply human—earning him acclaim on dancefloors and sound systems worldwide. He began his career behind the scenes as a producer and sound engineer, collaborating with various artists before stepping into the spotlight. His breakout came with the single "Arquipélago" in 2005, followed by the critically acclaimed debut album Chromophobia (2007) on the German label Kompakt—an LP now regarded as a landmark in global electronic music. Boratto’s versatility has extended far beyond clubs. He remixed the Oscar-winning City of God theme, contributed to the soundtracks of La Grande Bellezza and Halo 4, and even composed music for Chanel at the request of Karl Lagerfeld. In 2021, he produced "Change", the final song by Brazilian rock icon Rita Lee, and delivered a celebrated remix of her classic "Mutante." His remix credits read like a who’s who of music: Pet Shop Boys, Massive Attack, Goldfrapp, and Paul Simon among them. A mainstay at top festivals like Coachella, Timewarp, and Montreux Jazz Festival, Boratto also co-founded D.O.C. Records, supporting emerging talents such as Monolink and Vintage Culture.
