GROOVE THEORY 101: Michael Jackson’s Thriller — The Greatest Album Ever Made Echo Room, Atlanta Wednesday, October 28, 2026 Doors: 7:30 PM | Class in session: 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM Class is back in session, and this month, we’re dissecting perfection. Groove Theory 101 returns to break down Michael Jackson’s Thriller—the 1982 masterpiece that didn’t just dominate the charts, but fundamentally redefined what global pop music could sound like. Crafted alongside Quincy Jones and engineered with Bruce Swedien's iconic dynamic depth, *Thriller* is a masterclass in sonic architecture. From the unyielding 4/4 Minimoog bassline of "Billie Jean" to the rock-R&B collision of "Beat It" and the hypnotic African-inspired polyrhythms of "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'", every bar was engineered to move you. 🎃 **HALLOWEEN EDITION:** Since we're celebrating Thriller right before Halloween, costumes are highly encouraged! Show up in your best iconic music artist fit—whether that's MJ in the red leather jacket, Prince, Grace Jones, or your favorite legend. DRINKS & EATS: Food, craft cocktails, and zero-proof mocktails will be available for purchase throughout the night to keep you fueled while we listen, discuss and dance to this album. Join us on hi-fi vinyl as we spin the album front to back, deconstructing the production choices, Jackson’s singular vocal percussion, and the cross-genre alchemy that made this record timeless. Come ready to listen deeply, dissect the grooves, and celebrate the album that set the standard. Doors open at 7:30 PM for mingling before class starts promptly at 8:00 PM.
