We're celebrating our third birthday with our favourite line up yet, including an Ormside Projects debut for cologne based DJ and selector, Lena Willikens. 〜 Lena Willikens 〜 Her surprising twists and turns and ability to transform a dance floor into something defined much more by instinct, mood and colour, layering extended lines of polyrhythmic thought that can only be properly understood in-the-flow by bodies in motion, Lena places a lifetime immersed in the club, on all sides of booth, bar and dancefloor, in an effortless form of chronics edging on aerobic mysticism. Lena perfectly embodies the approach to DJing that we love here at kinetic and we can’t wait to welcome her to ormside for her debut. 〜 i-sha 〜 i-sha’s approach to DJing finds a common language across the spectrum of experimental soundsystem music. Grounded in the dubwise principles of negative space, physical pressure and adventurous sonics, her unique palette of outsider selections draws on abrasive noise and thunderous rhythms as much as delicate mantras and plaintive phrases. As a core part of the Accidental Meetings collective, the Bristol based DJ is connected to a risk-embracing, international DIY scene driven by sincere passion and curiosity for sounds unheard—a scattered array of club nights, festivals, art events, labels, radio stations and more where ideas are incubated and embraced with open-hearted enthusiasm. 〜 vida vojić [live drum solo] 〜 Through live drumming and singing, Vida amplifies input, triggers physical vibration, and awakens altered states. The London & Gothenburg-based music and performance artist, alchemical drummer and writer, focusses on combining sound, storytelling, and subtle set designs to create vibrational performances that connect the immediate with the infinite, exploring themes such as magic, theological frameworks, corporeal histories, alternative conceptions of time and the nature of change. This visceral sonic experience is accompanied by her vocal, scenographic, and poetic output, rooted in deep research and intuitive practice. The aim is to provoke sensation — perhaps even a trance. 〜 daksh 〜 The formerly Edinburgh, now London based DJ cut his teeth at Edinburghs intimate Sneaky Petes, where he hosts his regular resident party Membrane. Having invited the likes of Jon K, Nono Gigsta, Livwutang, Elijah Minnelli, Annabel Fraser and Bake as well as our very own guests for the 21st i-sha & Lena, our similar approach to curation is something that we really valued when we met and we can’t wait to have him play for us. 〜 Dj wiggles 〜 Resident Dj wiggles will be bringing her adventurous style back to ormside for the first time since May.
