Her sets don’t adhere to genre and instead seek to create moments of sentiment and worldbuilding while never missing the mark. Also making his own rules is Justin Strauss, a name synonymous with the past three decades of New York nightlife. He connects the dots between the old and new, oddball rarities and innovative beats. The unremitting DJ, producer, and remixer can and will mix just about anything. Carrying a similar note into The Atrium, Elena Colombi’s selections are equally geared toward the unexpected. The NTS host taps unconventional rhythms and psychedelic atmospheres from obscure and undiscovered artists to weave freaky and introspective yet energetic dancefloors. Emerging from the Brooklyn scene, fleet.dreams’ own sonic odyssey takes an equally-leftfield approach, melting influences from Texas and Detroit with immersive echoes of dub.
