LOOPY PRESENTS: Michelle Live // My Own Jupiter // Time Passages From Montevideo, Uruguay, Michelle is one of the newest additions to the roster of North American booking agency BlackTone. Her love for music matured during the years of MTV when she used to watch video clips by punk and alternative rock bands. This sparked her interest and curiosity to explore the study of electric guitar. Later, she graduated in architecture. During these times, she started attending South American parties that ignited a passion in her that helped her realize that making music was what she really wanted to do. After attending parties for some time, she began to get in touch with artists from the Uruguayan scene, especially Muten. She first debuted in 2018 on Milagro Records and on Nicolas Lutzʼs label, My Own Jupiter. She began performing her live sets at some local parties such as Reyes del Beat, Warehouse, Phonoteque, and up to Buenos Aires. She has also had the opportunity to play in Europe at the Phonoteque party at Hoppetosse in Berlin, RA:RE Anniversary in Paris, OPIA X SENTAKU X MOB in London and has been booked to play big festivals such as Houghton in London and Dimensions in Croatia. Deeply affected by the dancefloor which lies in front of her, she blends enigmatic dark sounds, and acid basslines always marked by a peculiar grace and groove. Ethel French-born, Berlin-based Ethel is steadily making a name for herself in her adopted hometown. Her sets are driving and eclectic, always with an unmistakable groove and playfulness. Her love of crate digging is evident in an effortless mix of house, breakbeat, electro, and 90’s acid cuts. Playing to the dancefloors of Robert Johnson, Fabric, Rex Club, Goa Club, and Creatures in London, she’s also part of the RA+RE collective and record label, with regular showcases at Club der Visionaere and Hoppetosse. Having been released under the E.N.E moniker on Fragil Musique and Voiceless, she is currently focusing on her own productions, when not busy co-curating the beloved Breakfast Club parties in Paris. Ethel is also the founder of the new, intimate Sunday event series Sobremesa in Berlin.
