Born into a musically inclined family in the Bronx, Vega began his career as a DJ in the vibrant nightlife of New York City during the 1980s. His early work involved producing remixes for notable artists, eventually leading to his breakout moment with the hit "Ride on the Rhythm" alongside Marc Anthony. Vega's ability to evolve with the music landscape and his collaborations with various artists set him apart in the competitive world of house music. In the early 1990s, Vega formed the production duo Masters at Work with Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, creating critically acclaimed albums and remixes for a host of legendary artists. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Vega Records, where he released numerous singles and albums, contributing significantly to the music scene.
