Carole, known as Mr. Murray originates from the core music scenes of New York and
Berlin. Her journey began with car rides from Philly to the Jersey Shore, sharing music
with her father, which inspired her stage name. After attending DubSpot in 2011, she
solidified her commitment to music, started collecting records, and launched the
Outwatch event series in Brooklyn, hosting a slew of US debuts of international artists
who shared her vision.
In 2017, Mr. Murray moved to Berlin, spending five transformative years collaborating
with artists and performing at renowned venues like Hoppetosse, ://About Blank, Fitzroy,
Anomalie. She was a founding member of Sobremesa and established FTF Records
to highlight music from artists she deeply admired. Her performances have taken her to
Kyiv, Brazil, Ecuador, Nicaragua, France, Berlin, Montreal, and throughout the US,
showcasing her talent on international and local stages.
Back in Brooklyn, Mr. Murray focuses on exclusively spinning vinyl, occasionally mixing
in a digital track to test the waters. She believes this approach is the purest form of
musical expression. She holds residencies at Mansions, Bossa Nova Civic Club,
Saynomore (philadelphia) and Danger Danger. Mansions being where she founded her
Ladies On Wax collective. The collective’s sole focus is to give opportunity to female
identifying artists who are passionate about DJing records and to get more ladies
interested in an art that, to music nerds, will never die. Her diverse record collection,
curated from around the world, allows her to craft dynamic sets that reflect her evolving
musical tastes and moods.
