Non-Friction Records continues their party series at Dead Letter No.9 with a birthday celebration of founder Matt FX alongside CDMX's Dan Solo, Vietnam based Bytz (founder of the legendary 2010's afters series Bushwick A/V and longtime party series Secret Guest) + label family Kristos, gurl&, and Brik City DJs Rich Rotas and Owen Vonn.
Expect a deliriously cheeky night as the Non-Friction crew weave through genres, decades, and continents with left of center hits, unreleased slappers, and cold hard classics.
This lineup brings together a wide range of dance floor worlds from NYC institutions to fresh underground energy. Matt FX (DJ, producer, music supervisor, chef, and TV host) is the definitive multihyphenate, known as the mind behind the soundtrack for Comedy Central’s Broad City with appearances on VICE News Tonight and the Food Network. A selector with range and irreverence, he’s shared lineups across the spectrum from Soul Clap and Disclosure to Snoop Dogg and Demi Lovato and continues to release new music via labels including Kitsuné Musique, Wolf + Lamb, and Sorry Records.
Bytz has been involved in sound and curation since 1997, curating and producing 1,000+ events across techno, house, jungle, bass music, trip-hop, and dub. With multi-year residencies at TBA Brooklyn and Bossa Nova Civic Club, plus performances at NYC staples like Output, Cielo, Elsewhere, and Good Room, his sound draws from field recording, film scores, dub techno, and deep house shaped by years of touring and community-building projects across Europe and Asia.
Rounding out the night: Kristos (one half of Love Language), Rich Rotas (Bushwick-based house DJ with a love for disco), Owen Vonn, Dan Solo (piano man since age 7; synthman for PONYREX and Technicolor Fabrics; bassist for Leslie; Mix Le Fun co-founder bringing fresh funk boogie), plus gurl& on straight-up house music duties.
