Nyc Rave Girls X Third Floor Sounds: House Dance Class

If you love house music, you’ll love house dance.

On Thursday, July 23rd, nyc rave girls and Third Floor Sounds team up to bring a proper house dance class—to the club.

Led by Huu Rock, one of NYC’s most respected house dance teachers, with music by Third Floor Sounds founder TEE EM DEE, this beginner-friendly class will help you get fluent in the body language of house music.

You’ll learn a few basics, then a short follow-along routine that puts them in motion, followed by a free dance to a DJ set from Caleaf Sellers, one of the original pioneers of the New York house dance movement.

A quick 101: House dance came out of the Chicago and New York underground in the late 70s and early 80s, emerging alongside house music. Built by Black, Latino, and queer communities on packed dancefloors, House is rooted in improvisation, not rigid choreography. There isn’t one “right” way to do it. The point is to add your own personality to the movement.
