OPEN DECKS FOR GAZA: a donate-what-you-can benefit party for famine relief with open decks, open mic, DJs Against Apartheid, vendors, bake sale, flow art, and so much more! Tuesday 9/2 at Rash in Brooklyn, 7pm-2am. Featuring ELI FREAKING ESCOBAR as our super special guest headliner!!! He will be playing midway through the night, so make sure to arrive early! Please thank him for donating his time to an important cause :) DJs, want to share the decks with Eli? Let your political and activist consciousness shine! Grief, anger, catharsis, revolution - we want to hear you play it. 30 minute sets on 2x CDJ-3000 and a Pioneer mixer, chosen by weighted lottery based on arrival time - so come out early and be in the club room every half hour for the lottery! Please bring a Rekordbox-formatted USB and headphones and be familiar with CDJs. We’ll be recording all sets with a GoPro and posting them online. Sign up in advance for 3 minute Open Mic slots by DMing @opendecksforgaza on IG. We’re welcoming original vocal and instrumental performances, or anything that you think would be a good fit! We’re also welcoming dancers, flow artists, performance artists of all kinds - if you do something cool, reach out! Want to display or make art, or help others make art (or protest materials)? Help people write to their representatives? Do something else fun in the bar area? Help run the lights? Send us your ideas! We’ll have DJs Against Apartheid tabling inside and vendors outside. If you’re a vendor or a group that would like to table, please DM us! Please consider bringing something plant-based (it doesn’t have to be a baked good) for the vegan bake sale! Organized and hosted by Rainbow Tutu and Explains Nothing - we can’t wait to meet you, so don’t be shy! All proceeds from entry will be donated to organizations working on famine relief in Gaza, as will the promoter’s share of bar sales and a percentage of all for-profit vendors’ proceeds. Not-for-profit groups doing good work will be vending to support their own causes and/or operating costs. So please grab some drinks and do some shopping for a good cause! Please follow @opendecksforgaza on IG for updates and share with your friends! No one will be turned away for lack of funds, but please donate generously if you have the means. DM us if you’d like to help out! Love, Scott (Rainbow Tutu) & Clarissa (Explains Nothing) Open Decks for Gaza Guidelines: 1) This event has no tolerance for intolerance of any kind. All who would like to help raise funds for food aid are welcome, so please keep in mind that our common cause is famine relief and check yourself accordingly. Be open to constructive discourse - we can’t get anywhere new inside the bubble! Politely decline conversations you don’t wish to be a part of, and graciously accept others doing the same. 2) This event has no tolerance for violence, harassment, or creepy bullshit. We are working to create a safe, welcoming environment for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and FLINTA. Don’t hesitate to report any issues or concerns to hosts Rainbow Tutu and Explains Nothing - we’ll have your back. 3) Please be respectful of the space and kind to the staff. Support the bar and tip generously! Please note that this edition is 21+, as it is taking place in a 21+ venue. 4) Please consume intoxicants mindfully, hydrate, and look out for yourself and your friends (strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet). Let staff and hosts know if someone needs assistance. 5) Please participate and support the performers! You are the party, so you better bring it. If you’re on the floor waiting for the dancing to start, or if you’re by the bar waiting for a stranger to talk to you, be the change you wish to see in the world :)
