Welcome to the land of mushrooms. Here the toadstools are in charge, and we celebrate the giant mushroom through song and dance. The music will do something to you. It’s psychedelic and deep. It’s pulling you somewhere you have not been before. You do not fully understand what is happening. That is fine. The mushroom does not require understanding, it requires movement. On May 16th, Book Club Radio presents Meeting #35: a night built around a giant luminous fungus and the music that makes it grow. Where it came from, no one can say with certainty. What it does is harder to explain. It changes what you hear. It changes what you feel. It elevates everything around it. The longer you dance, the larger it gets. Joining us on the night: Rose Kourts, a dynamic selector pulling from techno, house, and acid who has been playing across New York City and most recently opened for Groove Armada. Baby Weight, Washington D.C.'s finest, who cracked open the dance floor at Book Club Radio Festival with groovy, attitude-driven house, drawing from artists like the Strokes and LCD Soundsystem. And your hosts Tinzo and Jojo Lorenzo, who will be delivering something more experimental than their usual flare. Still groovy. Still them. But the mushroom has asked for something different, and they are obliging. Outfit inspiration lives here: https://www.pinterest.com/BookClubRadio/bc35-macrodose/. The mushroom has opinions about fashion. We suggest you take them seriously. Before you enter, you must agree to The Librarian's Manifesto. 1. Come for the music. 2. Be open to unfamiliar music and sounds. 3. Respect one another. 4. Face each other instead of the DJ. 5. No phones allowed on the dance floor. 6. Dress to express yourself. 7. Dance your heart out. The mushroom is waiting for you... Remember, Book Club Radio is an invite-only affair. This link is secret—guard it well. If you bring a guest, it’s your responsibility to ensure they understand and respect our manifesto. Specific location details are under lock and key, to be revealed to ticket holders only at 10PM the night before the event. Make sure your 21+ ID and ticket are ready.
