Oh how sweet to turn 16! Join us for an intimate gathering at The National Sawdust venue, a state of the art facility with its unique Meyer Sound Constellation System, specially designed for the room. Sheik ’N’ Beik is aging one year older and just like red wine, we’re only getting tastier. What started as a weekly gathering in 2008 at The Belmont Lounge and brought us to the four corners of the planet, gave us emotions in all colors, and memories for a lifetime, is coming home to roost in the heart of Williamsburg. The evening will not only mark the 16th anniversary of SNB but will also be the release party for our seventeenth EP, YVVI, produced by Seattle artist “IVVY”. For this very special occasion, we will be presenting the evening in a rather unique and new format for SNB. The doors will open at 8PM and what will follow will be a 3 hour live electronic music performance by three artists from our Sheik ’N’ Beik Records label, including local Brooklyn-Moroccan prodigy, “Bergsonist”, having contributed to two remixes on the EP, and in charge of opening duties, SNB artist The Josh Craig, performing as TJC, his Live experimental moniker, cooking up some ambient sounds from the depth of the Hudson abyss. 8PM DOORS OPEN 9PM TJC LIVE 10PM BERGSONIST LIVE 11PM IVVY LIVE 12AM END SHOW IVVY When we first met IVVY, they were traveling to NYC to play as WMD. We loved their music and eventually released the track “Shape Speed” on our 10th release, “Various Sheik 001”. Fast forward to 2024, the Seattle electronic music producer is more alive than ever. Through their love for hardware and a deep sense of community, IVVY’s music transcends all and brings us to our primitive mental zone, allowing one to detach and be free of thought. Get ready for a very special Live that will take us all on a deep mysterious journey through ambient, IDM and techno. Be on the lookout for the mega EP YVVI available on all of our favorite platforms starting February 2nd. BERGSONIST Selwa Abd is a Moroccan-born artist, music composer and DJ based in New York City. Operating under the moniker Bergsonist, she utilizes intuitive techniques to explore multifaceted themes of identity, social politics, and technology across various mediums, including video, design, audio-visual performances, and music composition. Her prolific and thought-provoking output challenges critical questions surrounding the future of technology, her own fragmented personal identity shaped by the complexities of post-colonial urban environments, and the influence of virtual realities on contemporary society. Inspired by Deleuze's interpretation of Henri Bergson's philosophical framework, she embraces intuition as a legitimate method for investigating these complex issues in all her creative endeavors. In her sound performances, she thoughtfully blends electronic manipulations with acoustic sounds, drawing inspiration from musique concrète and minimalism traditions. Selwa has shown works at MOMA Ps1, Roulette, Moogfest , The Center for Performance Research, Basilica Hudson, Fridman Gallery, The James Gallery, 47 Canal, The Brooklyn Film Festival to name a few. Selwa is the founder of Bizaarbazaar and the community resource Pick Up The Flow. She also hosts a monthly music show on NTS Radio.
