This Valentine’s day, we’ve got a special treat: Boys Noize headlines BASEMENT. One of the most iconic producers of the 20th century, and now a member of Nine Inch Nails, the German-born “techno punk” is responsible for some of the most fearlessly hooky, beautifully garish club monsters of our time. Since his debut EP, appropriately titled “The Bomb,” Boys Noize has crafted a singular path through electronic music. His touchstones draw in equal part from the best of late ‘90s breakouts like The Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk’s clubbiest moments to raw, golden age hip-hop, pure rave highs, electroclash and slamming techno. Through it all, Boys Noize finds a perfect sweet spot where rough, gritty club energy intertwines with an intuitive pop sensibility. As his friends in 2manyDJs once said, “Boys Noize is the only DJ who can play underground techno for 30,000 people." Juliana Huxtable is an artist who matches this level of raw creativity and cross-genre hybridization. One of the best of the international underground, Huxtable has long been a figurehead for US artists who prefer to draw outside the lines. But her artistry is reaching new heights. On top of an already-definitive body of work, Huxtable has been on even more of a tear than usual, delivering sets of blinding vision that fuse her innate experimental sensibility with pure, party-rocking abandon. Katie Rex joins them, offering up her own take on high-velocity impact. The BOUND founder is a force to be reckoned with. An artist who never misses, Rex’s noise-caked techno interlaces with thundering hardgroove and darker, goth-tinged moments of eerie hypnosis. ISAbella is for lovers. The Spanish artist returns to STUDIO to do what she does best: pure, joyous house with a raw edge and a sweet aftertaste. Epitomizing the barnstorming spirit that birthed the genre, ISAbella’s selections span decades, but never sway from the core, animating, life-force that made house revolutionary. Alírio returns from São Paulo for a special b2b with Markus. The Mamba Negra resident is a proponent of “Brazilian cuntcore,” trafficking in only the most direct, straight-to-the-jugular sounds. A session with NY’s beloved Markus, an artist equally versed in the urgent and rudely captivating, will be incendiary. NY’s e-lite returns. Tapping into the spacious, sensual side of house, e-lite is making a name for himself as an artist of marked depth and freshness. ■ No photos or videos ■ Ticket purchase does not guarantee entrance ■ No phone use on the dancefloor ■ The dance floor is for dancing, not conversation ■ No glowing/flashing clothes or items ■ Respect other people's space, no shuffling ■ Consent is mandatory ■ Zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism or any form of discrimination ■ Take care of each other, alert our staff if somebody isn't feeling well ■ Violating the house rules will result in removal PLEASE REVIEW HOUSE POLICIES AT LINK BELOW
