On Saturday, January 24, Dead Letter No. 9 hosts a rare, full-night CARGO session as Nickodemus and Captain Planet go all night together from 10PM–3AM. Captain Planet globetrotting DJ, producer, and crate-digger at heart, brings decades of NYC club grit and worldwide travel into his high-energy sets, jumping seamlessly between house, disco, hip-hop, reggae, Afrobeat, Latin rhythms, funk, and global bass. From cutting his teeth on cassette four-tracks and WNYU’s Passport radio to developing his signature “Gumbo Funk” through obsessive vinyl digging (including deep dives into Lincoln Center’s world-music archives), his sound has always been about flipping global records with a producer’s ear and a dancer’s instinct. With five albums on Bastard Jazz, international tours across dozens of cities, and a catalog of widely supported originals and remixes, Captain Planet’s selections are joyful, physical, and built for long arcs making this extended CARGO stretch with Nickodemus a true meeting of minds: two seasoned selectors trading rhythms, pressure, and release until the room fully locks in. Nickodemus is a connector of cultures whose sound has helped define modern global club music for nearly three decades. From early NYC club nights and marathon Turntables on the Hudson sessions to festival stages and packed rooms across Latin America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Nickodemus brings decades of experience behind the decks. His sets are built from years of crate-digging, live collaborations, and on-the-road exchanges blending house, disco, and hip-hop with heavy Afro-Latin percussion, Middle Eastern melodies, Caribbean swing, and raw bass pressure. A true turntablist, Nickodemus mixes with precision and control, keeping the floor engaged from the first mix to the final record. In the FOYER Omer Mil holds it down all night. As co-founder of Vin.yl, Omer has built his own parties from the ground up with nights centered on deep listening, carefully currated selections and a shared respect for records. He's played alongside legends like DJ Spinna, Mike Dunn, Karizma, Jovonn, Jadalareign and Soul Summit to name a few. Beyond his own series, he’s a familiar presence at rooms across the city, with regular appearances at Green Room, Golden Records, and underground warehouse parties throughout Brooklyn. Raised between Paris and New York, Omer brings serious crate depth and a disciplined approach to mixing, leaning into soulful house, left-field edits, and deep cuts, with sets that unfold smoothly and confidently over time.
