No Sleep is honored to welcome Shanghai-based techno artist Ma Haiping (Axis/Molecular) to Boston as part of his debut US tour, alongside the familiar heavy-hitter Elias Garcia. Known for their hypnotic sound with influences from science fiction, both artists have been responsible for creating some of our favorite techno tracks. Ma's productions are regularly played in performances by some of the world's most talented DJs, and this December we plan to show you why. Sunday, December 15th 9PM - 2AM Hennessy's (Upstairs) 25 Union St. Boston 21+ MA HAIPING: Ma Haiping stands as one of China’s most influential electronic and independent musicians. Lauded by Jeff Mills, his album “Chang’e-4” was released on the legendary Axis Records, marking a significant milestone in his career. In recent years, his music has garnered widespread international acclaim, seamlessly blending the traditions of Detroit Techno with Sci-Fi and Hypnotic elements to create futuristic tracks designed for the dance floor. In 2013, Ma Haiping made history by becoming the first Chinese producer to release Techno in Detroit with his EP “The Chinese Connection” on Scan 7’s Cratesaves International label. His journey continued in 2015 with the release of the EP “Crepuscular Rays” on Orlando Voorn’s Nightvision label. Between 2022 and 2024, he released several EPs, including “XX 8,” “Collapse,” “Parallel Cycle,” “Invincible EP” and “Artificial Ecstatic” across various prestigious labels such as the UK’s Molecular Recordings, France’s Seclusion, and the USA’s Sythetik Sound. His tracks have been frequently featured by Beatport as the best Techno (R/D/H) tracks of the month. Esteemed media outlets like Groove Mag, Mixmag (UK and Asia editions), and 5 Magazine have recommended his work. Ma Haiping’s music is regularly played by top international artists, including Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Slam, Ben Sims, Ken Ishii, DVS1, Rødhåd, Kr!z, and Rene Wise in their DJ performances. ELIAS GARCIA: Producer, DJ and Sceptre Records founder Elias Garcia was born in the Bronx, New York, and has been a musician since childhood. Music became a cornerstone of his identity. As a resident DJ for the United States techno collective Infra Boston, Elias has played for others such as Oclock Porto, Stamina FL, Shift NY, Future Arkive, Infra Boston, III Points Festival, Fader Events & WeAreAllVast in Portland. His productions have been supported by artists such as Oscar Mulero, DVS1 & Kr!z from his label releases such as Modularz, Voyager & Codec: His productions delve into the eerie, hypnotic, and mysterious musical structures of electronic music, which became critical to his science fiction-influenced sound.
