Non Friction Records takes over Dead Letter No. 9 with a lineup rooted in community with DJs who've carved out their own lane in NY's music scene. It's giving fresh talent, familiar faces and names that continue to shape the sound of the city. Plus, it’s First Fridays Free. Tim Lucent and Laila Amira kick things off in CARGO 10PM-12AM with the spirit behind Club Made, their collaborative event series and radio presence rooted in house, disco, and genre-fluid electronic music. Together they’ve built an outlet for deep, groove-driven selections and dynamic party energy having performed at spots like Good Room, Outerheaven and Lot Radio. 12AM-1:30AM Mona Matsuoka takes the reigns in CARGO. Alongside her established career in fashion and creative culture, she’s been releasing original music and vocal-led tracks like “Taka” (Matt FX Nocturnal Mix) and other recent cuts that showcase her knack for melody and club-forward production. As a performer, she’s become a familiar presence in NYC’s underground circuit spinning at spots like Outer Heaven, Jeans and Earthly Delights. 1:30AM-3AM in CARGO is Matt FX. Born and raised in New York, Matt FX is a DJ, producer, music supervisor, chef, and founder of Non-Friction Records. He specializes in house, disco, and open-format sets, bringing a broad, club-ready range to every room he plays. Often referred to as a “musical polymath” by Forbes and a “NYC nightlife institution” by VICE, he first gained national recognition as the music supervisor behind Comedy Central’s Broad City, and has appeared on VICE News Tonight and the Food Network. He’s shared lineups with artists ranging from Soul Clap and Disclosure to Snoop Dogg and Demi Lovato, and continues to release music on labels like Kitsuné Musique, Wolf + Lamb, and Sorry Records. In the Foyer 9PM-12AM - Edwin. Architect by trade and selector by instinct, Edwin Baruch brings a thoughtful approach to the booth. Having helped design spaces like Signal and Green Room, he understands how sound moves through a room and how energy builds within it. With a deep personal record collection and a carefully curated digital library, he brings range, intention, dance floor instinct to the booth. 12AM-3AM in the Foyer is JIA, a Brooklyn-based DJ and selector whose sets move with groove, grit, and momentum. She’s brought her sound to respected NYC spots like Elsewhere, The Lot Radio, SILO, Mood Ring, and Bossa Nova Civic Club, threading percussive rhythms and dance-floor energy with thoughtful build and flow. With a wide range of influences and a feel for the room, JIA crafts sets that are both dynamic and reliably tuned to the vibe of the night. Free w/ RSVP | 21+ *Limited spots available.
